    Boom     !

Not trying to be overly dramatic but I'm definitely different since 911. I was home doing invoicing that day with my new dog "Foxy" that I had just brought home from the Caribbean having rescued her from certain death. As I watched the horrible events unfold, I held her tight and began to call everyone that I loved starting with my new wife. Living just 15 miles from the Pentagon at the time, I had a feeling of vulnerability that I never imagined was possible.

After eleven years I still turn my head when they show footage of people jumping to their death to avoid being engulfed in burning jet fuel. I just feel that those poor victims deserve the dignity and honor of privacy in their final seconds of a terrible ending to their life.

This morning as I woke to footage from 9/11/01 I held Foxy extra tight as I realized that she doesn't have many September 11ths left in her.

Thanks  -29 - for always being a good guy. I have always thought highly of you.

Boom, I hardly ever take the time to post anymore due to my busy schedule.  But I can honestly say that this was one of the greatest posts I have ever had the pleasure of reading on this forum.  Thank you for taking the time and effort to open up and say what this day means to you.  It was a powerful, heartfelt read, and I do not think that anyone could have said it better.  Thank you again for taking the time to post something of such great substance.

Every year, I reflect and think back to this day and say:  On this very day ___  years ago, Americans put aside their differences and stood united as one nation.  United We Stand America. God Bless.

    Hey Boom,

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss 2 years ago.  I lost my dad on father's day of "04" to cancer.  He was a very young 55 years old with is not old these days.  Was by far the toughest day of my life.  But I do have to say that being 22 at the time, if your mind is right you find the inner strength in you to move forward and become a stronger person and cherish things lot more while you have them.  I find that people who do that become better as a person.

Now years later having married and 2 kids, I think back from time to time wondering how my dad would feel knowing how far in life i have gone and wishing he was here to see my kids grow.  Its very touching.

We knew the outcome of my father.  But for the people of 911 they had no idea when they awoke that morning what was instore for them....and thats what is very sad for them.

That is what is great about this country.  Most people are able to move forward with your life if they can....always remembering and never forget.  GL Boom and God Bless!!!!!

Good to see you. It has been a while. Yeah man, I think it's important that we step back, reflect and remember that life is so important.

Well done Boom, easy to slide over giving real time to remember the day and events.  When you think your life is tough, in relation to the things that happen to good folks everyday, it can usually be put into perspective.  God Bless America boys and girls!!!

Very well said, Boom.  I remember well that day; my daughter was attending the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and she called at 4 am west coast time to tell me that the world trade center was in flames - then her phone went dead - then I did not hear from her for 14 hours.  That is the truth.

I watched events unfold on TV for the next few hours with no word to or from her until I couldn't take it anymore, then gathered my wife and then 1 1/2 year old son and took them to the beach in santa monica where we spent time together all day in kind of a surreal day of peace and solitude on the beach (no one else was there); enjoying every moment of our time together while trusting that she would ultimately be okay.  At the time I remember thinking if this were the holocaust or end of the world, this is exactly how I would want to be spending this time.

You are right - family, faith and not taking a single minute or loved one for granted is a lesson 9/11 taught us that we would all do well to remember.

Also, on October 19 two years ago - about a month and a week after you lost your dad - I lost my mom suddenly and unexpectedly. As an only child who was pretty much raised just by her, it was a traumatic experience and so I have some idea of the loss and what it is like to get thru the first year or two after someone you never thought would ever be gone is just gone.  I hope it gets easier.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts this day.

I don't think anyone disputes the sentiments written, but some are responding in their unique fashion to their perception that BB can come across as an attention person with a large ego....
