this is actually the biggest hurdle to convincing the uneducated masses that the SEC isn't as great as the media tries to paint them... the BIG problem is, HS recruitment ratings...



Boise St NEVER gets "so-called 5 star recruits"... EVER!  and yet they dominate and produce results with their "less talented" players every year... simple-minded people will say "it's all coaching"... but someone with a bit more brain power will realize that the recruiting ratings themselves are very flawed and subjective... bigtime programs just go out and pick 5 star recruits, but do very little work in actually evaluating them... while smaller schools have to evaluate for themselves what a player is really worth...


my point:  the MAJORITY of 5 star recruits don't ever pan out to be worth a garbage... for sure at the NFL level, but many don't even pan out at the college level...


just because a team is labelled as having a great "recruiting class" they are automatically assumed to be great... without having to prove it on the field...


this is what college football has become... without a playoff, we have to TALK ABOUT who is the best team, or the best conference... and most people are too stupid to contribute anything worthwhile to such conversations... so we have this farsical abortion of a sports institution... in which a conference can fool everyone into believing they are dominant, SIMPLY BY AVOIDING THE OTHER CONFERENCE IN THE DISCUSSION!

IN GENERAL, teams that produce TOP 10 HS recruiting classes year in and year out, tend to be in the CFB rankings TOP 10 year in and year out!!

4 and 5 star recruits PAN OUT at a much much much higher percentage in CFB than 2 and 3 star guys,

for every BOISE STATE who takes 2 and 3 star guys and coaches them up to elite level, there are 25-30 teams who get 2 and 3 star guys but they end up barely above average in college

The LSU loss last night was a huge failure for the betting public.

The big 12 had their chance in back to back championships with OK and Texas against FL and Alabama, both lost by double digits.

Seems to me that the SEC is trying their best in these bowl games, and you have to appreciate the effort they give.

They just seem to want it more. When they get a few breaks in an otherwise even contest, they capitalize.

The SEC is Good, but every conference has 2 or 3 good teams....3 or 4 medium teams and 2 bad teams,,,ESPN has major interestsn in teams in the SEC being good, because they produce the most $$$ along with Texas, OU, USC, Ohio st and ND!!!
