Great write-up, great responses and differences of opinion also backed by facts! I've said it before and I'll say it again. As a long time reader, seldom poster, I don't read posts that simply say:
    KC-9
    Ala-46

As I click off them the second I discover that's what type of post it is.No offense to those posters as I know their posting available time is a consideration, but the plays I make are in the details!!!.

    Thank you for writing this.

Too many sensitive souls on this site that claim you are "trolling" because you disagree.

Also, for the record, I'm 2-3 against Scalabrine in football this season. I forgot about the Giants beating the Ravens. 1-3 in College though. I know none of you care. But, I would love to finish the football season with a winning record against White Mamba.

interesting how UNLV can only score 7 points on SDSU yet hang 69 points on Wyoming.  Wyomings TE over the middle has been dangerous for opponents, I'm hoping SDSU can plug that hole

One of Phil Steele's picks this week. He has San Diego State winning by 18.

    He's 45% ATS this season.

It's funny how people come into someones thread just to disagree.  At least when opposing facts are shown it can be helpful.  Eventually going against SCAL you will be right.  At least 30% of the time..

To piggy back on this, if I remember correctly UNLV scored a defensive TD on SDSU. Offense literally did nothing that game.

I live in Vegas and follow UNLV fairly closely. I couldn't believe they could hang half-a-hundred on Wyoming. Especially considering they did it with Palandech at QB (he is essentially the third string QB, although it's debatable his spot in order with Sneed). They also ran at will against the Wyoming defense without Lexington Thomas who is their best RB.

So they literally put up 50 in regulation with their third string QB and their second string RB. It's no secret that Sanchez doesn't like throwing the ball with Palandech either. He doesn't have a great arm.

I bet Wyoming against UNLV and was shocked that Craig Bohl couldn't figure out how to stop the UNLV rush attack since you really want Palandech to beat you with his arm. Especially since UNLV coach Tony Sanchez has been out-coached in most games this season.

SDSU will come into this game with a much more capable QB and a far better RB in Pumphrey. I'm a little nervous about the altitude and weather, since there is such a contrast from Laramie to San Diego. I think this game comes down to whether or not the SDSU defense can hold Wyoming to 21 points or less, in order to cover 10.

    2-3 going against Scal

    1-3 going against Scal

You'd be 6-0 in your last 6 if you just joined Scal...for free. Costs you nothing. And 29-11 over 40 if you joined Scal.

And you come to the thread, not as just a covers troll, but the worst of all internet trolls: the grammar troll. How shameful!

It may take your whole life to understand that. I hope you do one day.

Outstanding contributions from all Vern/Train many others. Thanks for all the comments. A ten point road favorite is a tough one to hit. It won't be easy. But there is enough here to play it.

Even after all this, you will be on Wyoming just because I am on SDSU. Oh well. The wall awaits you.

I haven't made a decision on the play yet.

I'm not interested in discussing the rest of your post. A waste of time. But, it was an admirable effort on your part.

Sneed started the SDSU game for UNLV... his first road start after running all over Fresno the week before.   He was 2-12 passing and then Palendech came in for the last drive.    The TD was a fumble return lost by Chapman in the backfield.

I'm 1-3 going head to head with Scalabrine this season. So we'll see. He got two close ones and I got one close one. He embarrassed me with Memphis over SMU. Thank god I went small on that one.

I'm sorry but I will never understand the whole betting the other side just because the pub is on one side. "If the consensus stays where it's at I'all take the points." Bro... seriously?? Like seriously people who really bet real money on games just by saying hey 80% of the pub is on Bama so I'm betting their opponent who averages 3 points a game! But that doesn't matter because the pub is on Bama! Public public public! Fade the public!

Two posts on the subject, huh?

I don't bet games just because the public is on them. I pick my spots. I think there is value in Wyoming getting 10 points at home. Simple as that. If the large majority of bettors think otherwise, I like the play even more. Because the large majority of bettors lose.

You ever hear of contrarian betting?

Listen guys. Scalabrine is a good capper. But, read posts # 1 and # 62. Scalabrine didn't do extensive research here. Post # 1 is full of confidence and once I brought some facts to his attention. He wrote "it won't be easy" in post # 62. He's having doubts already.

He's making a common mistake with gamblers. He's chasing his loss with Boise State from a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, we have all been there. This is a subconscious revenge play for him.

If you tail, go light here. If you need more reasons, read posts # 34 and # 40.

That's true and false. You can't just be contrarian to win. If it were true we'd all be winners. I've said repeatedly: If you cap a game completely, the concensus (a fallible but sometimes helpful shortcut I've used when I HAVEN'T capped a game completely) doesn't matter.

You haven't capped this game so you use concensus. Anyhow, it's all capped for you right here.

A 10 pt road dog is serious business. I don't take such a number lightly. But after capping it, I don't see how anything other than Laramie and senior day motivates this team. Perhaps that will be enough to cover this number. Perhaps not. But a major flaw in your previous post that I saw was pointing out that Air Force was somehow on the level of the Boise win. I mean, that is "strap the guy to a gurney, tell the men in the white coats to roll him out of the thread."

Air Force. Nice little season. 4-0 at the time. And even with all that, that is not a win over Boise who walloped that team ELEVEN straight times and has a sterling resume in recent years in the Mountain. Now come on.

And again, the Boise win will actually fall short of a win here to a team that is more dominant on both sides of the ball despite against alleged mediocre competition. Well when you are playing your conference and holding them to a microscopic SEVEN POINTS A GAME average with a 6-0, that is DESTROYING even the worst of them. What else do you want? Zero points a game? Even if they shut them all out people would still criticize SDSU.

I expect a completely different challenge here, and I see a defense that will be in big trouble. Almost 70 points to UNLV. There are embarrassing defensive performances and then there are ones you can't excuse. That is Rutgers Michigan levels with a team that is LIGHT YEARS away from Michigan. And now you are asked to take care of business against the best of the best out West. Muster yet ANOTHER win at home. Boise could have blown them out that last game. It was all about momentum and they had PERFECT timing for that. Do that twice in a few weeks time? After giving up 70? Not coming in with the same mindset, health or smoke and mirrors that made others think you weren't vulnerable. That is why I am willing to lay 10 here.

Wow, now I see he's resorting to "confidence levels" as though I'm supposed to sell every pick as a winner before kick. The troll of trolls. Goads you into using lock.

I'm chasing a loss even though I've posted 6 winners in a row you and am 29-11 this year. There you have it folks. Side with THAT guy.lol.

Your case is that there is value in getting 10 points at home with a good team. This is true.

And this is also classic 'sharp-esque' thinking that is fallible, in that, it doesn't take the so called sharp to think or do much to grab the 10.

THAT is why this thread is littered with an enormous amount of info from several contributors to help justify laying this number which is no small task. So in reality, the people actually taking SDSU have done the work to validate every point of spread where the bettor who takes the shortcut, just takes the points and run because of the perceived value. If you took the mountain of points (23.5) vs Nevada, you still fell short of the spread in a game that was long over before garbage time TD's even approached the spread.

Saw the shortcut taking with my own eyes. "Sharps" after a days losses ran to the window to swallow the Nevada side while and drove it to 21.5. All losses at any number the entire week.

SDSU hasn't played in Laramie. But Wyoming hasn't seen a D like this which in conference is at Bama-sequel levels.
