This coach must have had a hell of a speech. This was a rebuilding year for Penn State anyway, Their schedule is not overwhelming in the first half of the season with Ohio U., Navy, and Temple. They also get Northwestern (HC) and Indiana at home. Their opponent&#x27;s win % for 2012 is 86-70 which ranks them 42 out of 124 teams. They could be 4-2 before entering the meat of the schedule.

Nah, it&#x27;s the human spirit and core values surfacing.&#xD;&#xA;The NCAA basically left that program for dead. But they refuse to die, and the&#x27;re defiant, proud, and angry right now. And they&#x27;re ready to fight. &#xD;&#xA;The way that they refused to abandon their school and program during it&#x27;s darkest hour was very powerful. Fuck the national championship squads. This group of guys are gonna go down as being PSU&#x27;s greatest team.

Sometimes, it&#x27;s a good thing to have a reason besides winning. It picks that team off of everyone else&#x27;s level, up to a little higher level. If they stick together like they say, this team will be dangerous. They haven&#x27;t lost more than 2 games at home in 7 years. I don&#x27;t see them losing more than that this year, and they might even upset Ohio St or Wisconsin.

it will be a huge change to transfer now with school about 7-8 weeks away, and football practice about 2 weeks away,

i am not surprised AT ALL that so many players are staying,

the real challenge will be recruiting great talent outside the state of Pennsylvania, to go to Penn St in the next 4-5 years,

but Penn is a great football state so they'll be a decent team for many years, but not a great team for probably 10 years or so

no Vegasflyer, LAST year was the rebuilding year,this year they would have had 16&#x2B; returning starters,most of those youngsters got experience last year,

First, you have a new head coach, only 17 starts combined on the offensive line, they have to replace all 4 starting DB&#x27;s. I show 9 total returning starters, and yes, there is some starting experience behind these numbers, but not in O&#x27;Brien&#x27;s scheme. Some of these players could be shuffled into a new position and just learning a new system alone will require some extra starts to become efficient. New coverage&#x27;s, blocking assignments, responsibilities, that were used last year may be obsolete in O&#x27;Brien&#x27;s system.

We Are Nation family is better than a few bad eggs, I have said it again and again, we will only stick together as family in these tough times and fight on.

Very very proud for these young men to stick it out when its tough when its real easy to jump ship. A great life lesson is to be learned and that is what this is all about.

The NCAA tried to break these kids and they wont let it happen.

Hopefully, people keep in mind that the team paying the price is not the one&#x27;s to blame. I wish them well. As for Paterno, I can&#x27;t say the same, This guy knew what was going on and just let it happen. I don&#x27;t think he was dumb, his record was too good, but he was ignorant and it should have cost him, to bad he couldn&#x27;t have lived to see it.

Their schedule is decent early, this "We Are" could give them enough momentum to be 6-0 although Virginia and Illinois will be tough on the road. I can&#x27;t wait for the season to start!

its hard not to root for those players and coaches sticking it out to do well, they had nothing to do with any of what had happen. i had them pegged at 7-5 or 8-4 before the season, i dont think that will happen because they will lose a few pieces but if im not betting against them i will be rooting for those players

I agree here. I am very surprised that it seems all players are going to stick it out. It shows strength. But I think that the real struggle is going to be getting the future recruiting classes to want to come to Penn St.  The guys who are considering between Penn St, Michigan, V. Tech etc...Hard to imagine that many players without a direct tie to Penn St will want to go there. I may be wrong though.

ban what?the problem is not this year i have said, most upper classmen will always stay in these situations.  the problem isnt 54 to 1 have announced they are staying.the problem is the 29 who have yet to decide are compromised of mostly young talented players who are the future of 2 or 3 years down the road.  so yes, if that majority does not come back, it will be really bad football for a few years no matter who they bring in.  that said, i am extremely proud and surprised of those who are staying so far, even a shocking number of underclassmen.  i thought this would be worse already but there will be some names at least to me that will hurt to see go within the next week or so.  if hackenberg and breneman some how stay committed for 2013 though i will say they will be good enough.

here are some things o&#x27;brien is trying to do to change culture/spice it up during the time off.change schedule...he wants big name opponents out of conference to replace bowl game feel.  he is also trying to get a couple games out in hawaii for last game of year so players get a vacation type game.change uniforms--he is working on doing something different, like add names on back of jerseys etc.  (dont know if i like that but whatever works i guess)

no need to get your hopes up man.... I suspect some players to jump ship. This no 4 year post season appearance and 40 scholarships WILL cripple this program. I know you love your guys, and so you should....its your Alum and your a proud member. But dont mistake reality here. Penn S.T is off the map for the future.
