    @thisguyiswise

Apparently you are listening to different experts than I am! This could get bad...really bad. I don't think when they wrote the rule book they thought they would have to include lying/covering child molestation. I understand your stance and your passion for Penn St., but from an unbiased view...this will be the circumstance where the NCAA will flex their muscles.

The Cam situation is a completely different scenario with too much that was not 100% and concrete. There's absolutely no way to compare the two!

I'm hearing something along the lines of what Bama is saying.  As I posted in a different thread, the NCAA has contacted Pedo State and to this point in time the Nits have ignored their request.  This won't be dropped and with the scathing rhetoric ESPN and Fox are putting out, the words "death penalty" are about to become pretty common.

We'll take away scholarships for inappropriate texting/calling, but for covering up a child molester for 10+ years.....ahh nothing  -

there is no way that they will have a top 20 recruiting class that actually commits for 2013.  this disgusting thing gets worse by the day and will have kids running for everyone else by the time 2013 rolls around.  i hear their class of 2017 is the top rated so far

With fear of further sanctions do you really think most of these players with multiple options will stay committed???

Parents, coaches, friends, and the damn player themselves will be spooked of further discipline!

You need to gain knowledge and most importantly...common sense!!

Penn State is going to bounce back...they will take their lumps for 2-3 years...then they will be a contender for a national championship...this folding stuff is utter nonsense. Penn State is bigger than one man and they will show the world that they are resilient and they will put this behind them...as they say…We ARE PENN STATE…they are  not “Joe Pa Football U”…

damn right longhorn, but at this point i would just rather the university regain standards and worry about football later.

as far a scapper and luv are concerned, you are both right in a way.
things are never as good as they seem or never as bad as they seem as my father says.  usually somewhere in the middle not matter how good or bad things look (i am talking specifically about terms of recruiting)

i am sure some recruits will jump ship but its really hard to tell at this point.  i mean its so early in recruiting process still and ncaa stuff needs to be rectified for sure before anyone is 100% committed.  you see kids jumping all over from bama to auburn and such and i know too well what happened to penn state last year as we ended up losing about 6 big time recruits because of this.

that being said, i follow all recruits on twitter and with the exception of a few, i can say all 9 or 10 have made it clear that was the old penn state and they are part of the new era since this hit thursday.  it may not mean a lot in the long run, but in the short term it sure feels good knowing these kids can still see the great in penn state and the bad in a few people.

i have heard from other alumni the university is fairly confident they will not be punished severely by the ncaa. take it for what its worth but you must know, they knew this was coming and have been able to prepare for months and by the time it rolls around who knows.

hopefully there is some clarity sooner than later.  it wont ruin my life either way, its just a game.  even if they win games this year i think i will still have that pit in my stomach anyway.  time heals wounds i guess.

cmon really, you have to be like this now?  just a cheap shot like that man?   as if i said they will be dominant or something?  was i not humble enough for you?  did i not just state facts for this topic and agree with both parties?  have i not professed my humility in this awful tragedy?

some people just dont get it i guess so i cant help you.

and for the record, they were within a field goal of a big 10 championship game last year so really what you just said makes zero sense at all.

    and then this

Among the Nittany Lions' highlights since 2005:

    - Big Ten Championships and BCS berths in 2005 and 2008
    - Won 2006 FedEx Orange Bowl and played in 2009 Rose Bowl
    - Five New Year's or BCS bowl bids (No. 3 in nation)
    - Four bowl victories (tied for No. 5 in nation)
    - Five final Top 25 rankings (3 Top 10)
    - Big Ten's No. 2 overall and No. 3 conference records
    - 25-4 non-conference record
    - Nine First-team All-Americans
    - 18 All-Americans (1st, 2nd or 3rd team)
    - Two Big Ten-Chicago Tribune Silver Football winners
    - 30 First-team All-Big Ten selections
    - 37-6 (86.0) record in Beaver Stadium

so what are you even talking about they dont compete?

say their coach and a few men protected child molester, fine, it is shameful but dont just make uneducated comments that shows your hate for the school.

use all these same state since 2000, where they didnt make top 25 in 2000-2004, 2006(#24), 2007, 2010-2011.  8 of last 12 years they didnt make TOP 25.  A #24, #9, #8 and #3 in 12 years.  A team that doesnt make the top #25 in 8 of 12 years and hangs their hat on an 11-1, #3 2005 year is not sniffing a NC.  like i said.  hang ur hat on 2005, great job.  and while you say they were a fg from big ten title game last year, ur right.  a fg and 5 td's vs wisconsin.  they lost 45-7 in the game they had to win to make a season.  and STILL finished out of the top #25 last year.  yeah great.  dude ur dilusional.

"have not competed for big ten title in years" your words

i showed you facts from the last 7 years not including last years where they went 6-2 in conference and again, were a field goal miss away from going to title game.

the teams stunk last year, yes, but they still competed and had a great chance of playing in title game for conference.  thats competing.  indiana they are not.

    grow the fuck up
