Stoops makes sense in Iowa for the simple fact he is an alum. But I highly doubt it...maybe Lou Holtz is coming back. ;)

PSU is still one of those jobs despite the tragic events that have been revealed.

dont believe what espn is reporting and what the psu ad and prez are saying...they have their guys lined up in a row if not "the" guy.

sources have not backed off at all their statements..usually if things are untrue you will see this happen after 24 hours or so..and if it lasts til mid jan, the more likely it is saban

the interesting thing in all of this is the recruit who just committed was also offered by alabama.
per sabans contract, according to sources, saban is not allowed to recruit players to a new school if he leaves unless his current school (alabama) was already recruiting him.  maybe it means nothing, but then again maybe its a clue.

despite all of the bs about penn state football going down the tubes, they have lost 3 recruits total and gained one who would not have came if schutt stayed on because both were defensive tackles.  Furthermore, as of today we have not seen one player transfer or show a desire to.  The only possible one at this point would be Curtis Drake, though that is unlikely.  And his reasoning would be more because of a fight he got into with the arrogant (for no reason) matt mcgloin.  Drake has basically missed 2 years with broken legs, though he is super talented, its not like its a huge loss.

That is pretty astounding considering the turmoil over the last 6 or so weeks.

Youre a day or two late. I have already reported this. Bob Stoops has accepted the job at Penn State with conditions (i.e. a leak). Period.

the main source reporting this was indeed a day ahead of mainstream media to report urban meyer to ohio state and the first to announce the new pitt coach.  he was also a day ahead of announcing cryst transfer from notre dame to kansas...the only reason he has not released a name is fear of jinx and is waiting for 100% confirmation..

ah...a day too late huh? is that day today or yesterday?  furthermore, a coach will conditionally agree to make the biggest move of his life, but wont do it if there is a leak in your words or rumor in my words about it....give me a break...maybe it is stoops, but thats purely an educated guess on your part...spare me

trust me man, i hope you are right...any one of the four i mentioned i will take....and your thread is hilarious, as people are dismissing psu as some program that cant or wont hire a big name.....oh yes they will and the look on peoples faces would be priceless.


if parker from nike is involved and has a passion to pay for a hire, they are getting a big coach. as we know, money talks and bullshit walks.

On a serious note.. Penn state has allot more to worry about than hiring a football coach. Football should be way down the list. What happened there ruined many lives and destroyed a good educational institution...

Hope...you hate PSU, we get it. The kids playing on that team today have NOTHING to do with what happened with Sandusky. Nothing. I bet you agree with those NY Times idiots who says Penn State should turn down their bowl game because of the scandal. Cuz that makes sense. Punish people who dont even know who the fuck Sandusky is.

he cheated on recruiting and paying players...to this day, penn state has never done that and is one of only two schools not be reprimanded in any way by the ncaa for illegal recruiting or illegal benefits to players...the other is stanford.

So silly you are...we all know jay paterno only had a job because of his daddy...those that follow penn state also know that joe paterno was great for many years, but a change at coach was much needed as he did not have "it" anymore to be the man in charge...we also knew he was going to retire this year anyway before the nebraska game....any true psu fan or alum has known that mcqueary and jay pa had no business coaching our boys

its too bad what happened to joe, but one door closes another door opens...and us true fans are just looking towards the future, whats done is done.  what did not kill us only makes us stronger.....good luck with your team

Jim Tressel...Not trying to be down on your program...He was great for Ohio State...Fits your criteria for what the media has said about being a big splash...Definitely would turn heads...Mostly in a bad way to begin...But once they start winning then everyone forgets what happened...the public has a short memory...Think Vick

4 star d lineman just committed to penn state the other day....we have 14 recruits...and once this coach is named from what i am hearing, the recruits will follow if its the big name it should be.

you make no sense, but have fun with dick rod, he isnt corrupt at all and he did wonders for the michigan program...its ok..

careful saying no way its stoops, saban, richt, or peterson....be real careful saying there is no way one of those guys takes this job.

syracuse basketball should be a black hole too...but they are #1 in the nation.  so anything is possible when you have a great coach, money, facilities, and resources.

every dark night, there is a brighter day.  we all look forward to the future at penn state.
