in looking for an impressive out of conference win by a Big 10 team, it's a toss up between OSU over Washington (a team that is a whopping 1-5 in Pac 10 play), or Illinois over Syracuse... in other words, they can beat up on the doormats from other conferences all day long... well, maybe "beat up" is a bit strong...

If you dont think that layoff and losing Ginn hurt youre fucking nuts......we may not have won but it should have been a game.OSU didnt show up period and Florida played like the champs that night end of story
 
As for the 2002 NC that everyone likes to bitch about go back and watch the game with 3 mins left[or so] we had a pass called incomplete right at the sideline that clearly was a caught ball....wich would have given us a first down and the game would have been all but over......even if they hold us there they get the ball back with 1 min left

You can look at any conference and not find quality non conf wins, because teams don't want to schedule quality non conf opponents , especially on the road. It is a joke and it should be just like NFL preseason football, where the games don't count. Some of these BCS conf. want to schedule MAC teams and Sun Belt teams, and actually these smaller schools can use the money that these road games generate. But I will say again  that OSU does not duck anybody, you look at their non conf schedule over the past 15 years, they have the toughest of any tough team. And they had Washington this year, and when that was scheduled Wash was probably a top 25 team. 10 years ago OSU wanted a home and home with Nebraska, and that fell through. It is kind of suicidal, why the hell would they want to play USC next year? Why would they play Texas? But even next year when OSU thrashes USC , the SEC whiners will say that USC sucks. And when OSU whips LSU you will be whining that LSU sucked and OSU still hasn't played anybody. The fact is that OSU has dominated all teams and beat them so physically that the teams aren't worth a shit the next few weeks.

Let''s look at OSU's recent bowl games, since you want to talk about non conf games blah blah blah. Now the bowls you can't choose who you play, and you play a team of equal strength, and a BCS game you're playing a top 5 type of team, right?
 
2002 Fiesta Beat Miami Fl, now the 2001 Miami team was one of the best recent teams, right, and this was a great team too, maybe OSU was lucky to get the pass int call but they led this game mmost of the way.
 
2003 Fiesta, beat Kansas St BCS game.
 
2004 Alamo, beat a good OK st team.
 
2005 Fiesta, destroyed a solid ND team.
 
2006 BCS, lost to Florida, yes it was a bad loss, had the longest layoff ever and lost Ginn Jr on the first play of the game.
 
So OSU is 4-1 in their last 5 bowls with 4 BCS games the last 5 years, so let's hear how they don't play anybody good and can't beat anybody good.

Godfather, how are you still arguing this???  did you not read my post?  i broke down every Big 10 team's non-conference wins (and some losses)... there is no reference point that can suggest that the Big 10 is a solid conference... NONE!

saying all other conferences don't schedule difficult non-conference games?  REALLY?

Washington has been a Pac 10 doormat for a LONG time, so don't give us this crap that they were good when you scheduled it... what have you been watching CFB for 5 minutes?

and pointing to the 2005 Fiesta Bowl win against ND as a solid win is a joke!  ND gets killed and will ALWAYS get killed in BCS games no matter who they are playing... i bet against them no matter who they play in a BCS bowl (Ore St, LSU, OSU...), and i'm disappointed i won't get that chance this year... they have no business taking the field against top teams from big conferences...

ALL of your arguments are weak... WHY ARE YOU STILL DOING THIS???  you could not look more uninformed regarding CFB!

let your stupid team win a game against ANYONE before you start talking about them being the greatest team ever, or even the greatest team this year...

this is a joke, and like i said before, it is a spit in the face of college football history!  incredibly disrespectful!  this team belongs nowhere near ANY of the top teams to have played this game...

oh yea, and it's ironic that you say "last year has nothing to do with this year", and then point out who they have beaten in bowl games over the past 5 years...

and what's even more idiotic about that... you are pointing out those games to prove that OSU doesn't dodge good competition... THOSE AREN'T SCHEDULED GAMES, BOZO!

Not only is the SEC undefeated against OSU in Bowl Games,but they beat them by an average of 14.125 points per contest!
 
 The Sec is 1 point away from DOUBLING the Buckeyes point production as they have outscored OSU 227-114!
Luckily for OSU most of these games have ended with the SEC team taking a knee instead of adding another score.
 
 Actually,OSU should just avoid teams from the South alltogether,because they are 0-10 against any southern team as they have also lost to Florida State 31-14 in the 98 Sugar,and 17-15 to Clemson in the 79 Gator. 
 
 So instead of drawing attention to OSU's glaring inability to beat any SEC or ACC team in a Bowl Game,maybe you should just STFU !

All of this OSU talk will mean nothing after they lose to Michigan on the 17th.  When that happens, App St. should get some strong consideration for the title game.

JRbull, thanks for that info wasn't aware that the SEC has DOMINATED OSU in such fashion. Hopefully this will put a end to this ridiculous thread. I can only hope like hell that LSU wins out and gets to play OSU and then OSU can leave New Orleans they same way they left the NCG last year. Completely dominated be another SEC team
 
Also I love how he says losing Ginn hurt OSU. Well if his own players wouldn't have got so excited it never would have happened. Also how did losing Ginn affect the way Florida's offense just crushed OSU's defense?

Yes I like OSU chances this year in the MNC chase.  Why?  Because I do not think they are going to go up against the best teams in the land.  I think Oregon would whip ANY big ten team by at least 7 point with a healthy Dixon.  I also think that Oregon would beat any SEC team.  I think Oregon is the best obviously but they are a west coast team and a have a bad loss to Cal.  That will keep em out of the BCS. 

I think OSU is comparable to Texas in talent but have a much better coach and in a much weaker conference this year. 

That is NOT a dig at OSU.  All you can do is ask OSU to win all the games they play in and if they do.....TADA!  Champions!

Now I do beleive they can do that because they will get a weak SEC team or an overated Big XII team. 

Now as far as weakness of OSU?  Well what are their strengths?   It is tough to say beyond coaching.  The Defense has not stopped any prolific offense nor has their Offense faced any prolific Defenses. I really think that they are untested.  That is the weakness.  We don't really know how good each unit is.  Stopping those woeful Offenses in the big 10(1) is not a challenge nor is scoring on the Ds.. 

Now LSU has a prolific D but a terrible O.  edge OSU. 

Oklahoma is equal to OSU in talent and coaching but   seems a year away. ( ican't put my finger on it)

Winning in the BIG 11 does not necessarily demonstrate to me that they can match up with most of the top 10 teams. The only other conference team with any team speed is Illinois....  When they play other top ranked teams, they will not only find great speed, but a lot more talent at skill positions; especially QB and RB.........They will also see defenses that are a lot better than they have seen this year.

1. you show some tough non conf games, but those are the only ones, most teams do not schedule tough teams and you now it, they load up on creampuffs, so don't whine about the Buckeyes not playing anyone when they play Texas, USC next year, etc.
2. I am comfortable with the OSU offense or defense unit on the field in the end, but none of their games have been close at the end and none will be. Both units can get the job done, obviously.
3. Navy showed this year that the past doesn't mean much, they won over ND after 43 years of losing, so do you think the OSU will be scared of a team from the south because the OSU lost to a team in the 1970's
4. OSU's record in recent bowl games shows that this team can compete with anybody and beat anybody. They lost control last year with Ginn out and weren't ready. One game doesn't mean that they can't ever win again. Using your logic, then LSU or OKL can't win the BCS because they lost a game this year to far inferior opponents.
5. Let's let the bowl games play out before you totally dismiss the Big 10. Everyone has a nut for the SEC but it looks mediocre this year, with some top teams even having trouble with Vandy and Miss St. So don't say the Big 10 can't beat anyone until after the fact.
6. petealot - yeah I'm sure no other Big 10 teams have any speed

The SEC as a whole has not dominated in the bowls in recent years, they have done average, so you can't say the SEC is dominant when they are not dominating folks.

I am very confident that the Big 10 will do well this year in the bowls, because they are 9-4 in non conf games vs BCS teams. And you can't schedule cream-puffs like this, you don't know if the teams will be good or not, they are playing teams with similar talents. You guys act like you are official experts, but I will guarantee you that OSU will be chalk against any opponent in the NC game, and you guys say the OSU has no chance to beat anybody in this game, so why would Vegas make the OSU a favorite if th have no chance to win the game? HMMMM??

Next I never said SEC teams dominate in bowl games. I said SEC teams have DOMINATED OSU in the past 8 meetings.
 
Next you never answered my question. What did Ginn getting hurt have to do with Florida RUNNING away from that precious OSU defense. Florida pummeled that defense.
