lol@college football would be ruined by having a playoff what r u one of the dumbass university presidents who dont want to give up control and the argument that every week is a playoff dont hold water try telling that to Boise and Tcu who have had undefeated seasons and not got there chance to play for the championship
There is a CFB Playoff .....it starts Week 1.....
TCU is going to the BIG East soon ..... Lets see if they go undefeated in a Major Conference
Boise St is heading to the Newly shaped MWC..... not sure it will be as easy there either ....
Not taking anything away from either programs ..... Love rooting for both of them ..... But they need a Tougher regular season schedule before they cry

I have already stated my thoughts on this, but who in the Big East would have come close to beating TCU this year? Let me answer that with an emphatic NO ONE...I wish TCU were in this past year so 2004 would happen again...

give Frogs .....Pitt's .....or West Vag's......or Cincy's schedule.....really think they just waltz right thru it?....NO....because they might lose a key player or two vs the Canes....or LSU .....or OU * the ability to stay FRESH throughout the ENTIRE fucking season is HUGE.......
If......Frogs TOTALLY shut down Wisky....WELL.....OK you got something....NO they got shredded.....DUMBAZZ .....low testosterone game plan / adjustments by Chryst (cost him the Texas job?).....enabled Frogs to stay in game (did play great offensively though....and made stops when needed)....despite being whipped on LOS on offensive side of ball also... *LB Tank Carder said after failed 2 pt conversion..."we were lucky they lined up in shotgun because we had no answer for running game"....basically
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.

So if Miami Ohio would have went 12-0 this season you would have wanted them in the BCS Championship ????
TCU did not Play 1 Team(regular season) that Finished in the Top 25
TCU will likely lose 1+ Games next year .... Like Bookie said it will be a Big Step up in a Major conference ... more injuries will occur bc you will not be able to rest your Starters in tighter games.... SO you already have TCU 8-0 in BIG EAST Play ..... NO way they can lose a Game ????
also Comparing College Basketball to College Football
is Like Comparing
Golf to Nascar........ totally different sports

Indiana St finished the regular season with the #1 ranking in both the AP Poll and the Coaches poll in 1979.

No, I am not a university president. But I would have the question the merits of your post. Are you telling me that you are smarter than these university presidents? I dont know, I just find that hard to believe and that is mainly because of how eloquent you arent.
Anyway, back to the shitty argument you make, because it really is terrible......just because you dont play anyone in the regular season is the exact reason why you cannot play in the BCS. The system awards the teams that try the hardest. But, what do you like? You like welfare. You want to reward the people who dont try and dont give a fuck? I cannot make an argument where that is a better system. Not one - and from your post, you cannot either.
Lets look at the teams you think are being cheated....who did TCU play this year? Nobody, followed by nobody and then followed up with nobody. I dont think that team cheated. They barely snuck by a 2 loss team from the Big 10. Barely. What is your argument for TCU? Is it better than the argument for Oregon or Auburn? I dont think so, but I would love to read it.
Boise? Again, you are talking about a what-if circumstance. This is not childrens literature.....
The bowls are the best thing for the schools and for College Football. They might not be the best thing for you, but that doesnt matter. I am sure you would love an NCAA season where the games mean litte-to-nothing like the end of the NFL season. I dont. I like that you cannot lose a game. I like the idea that every week is more important than the last. It makes the regular season that much more entertaining and the controversy surrounding the BCS is amazing, it generates so much for the sport and these players.

the Bcs is a monolopy of 6 conferences no out of conference play what so ever, and all the major schools load up non conference schedule with either fcs or teams from weak non aq conferences theres no way to tell who best conferences are until bowl season and bowl games are boring as hell only bowl game anyone even cares about is the bcs title game ratings and attendence are horrible for 90 percent of remaining bowl games

A playoff would only bolster the regular
season’s importance. Think about it. Think about any game, involving any
team, over the course of the 2009 season. Now, ask yourself: would that
game have been more or less interesting or important if the post-season
format was a playoff-bowl hybrid? How about Arkansas-LSU? How about
Oregon State-Oregon? How about Alabama-Florida? Would that game have
lost meaning, where the two teams were fighting for the Number 1 seed,
and the easiest playoff path to the championship game? Add a touch of
playoff, and all of a sudden, far more games matter, including innumerable games where participants hold out hopes for one of the lower-seeded playoff spots.
How about every regular season game played in by TCU,
Boise State, Cincinnati, and Utah? As it is now, at least in terms of
determining the “national championship,” those games are of zero
significance. For all those teams defined as second-class by the BCS,
the regular season is a dead-end before the first snap.
The BCS has permitted only 12 teams to play for its
championship during its 12-year existence. Championship opportunities
for 12 teams. Exhibition games for everyone else. How can we be
satisfied with a world where BCS Executive Director Bill Hancock and his
kind run around, cleverly explaining to certain kids on the wrong side
of the tracks that they cannot grow up to be doctors, because . . .
well, just because? Are we truly content with Mr. Hancock offering a pat
on the head and a warm explanation: “Be content, young man, not every
one can be a doctor, but you can have a good life, and you may even
sneak into Physician’s Assistants School”?

I believe that the bigger schools dont have to schedule OOC that much - although you saw VT did with Boise and Oklahoma with Cincinnato - because they play a harder schedule week in and week out. You cannot compare the schedule of an ACC team to that of a WAC team or that of an even a basketball conference, like the Big East to that of an MWC team. One set of schools has to run a gauntlet every week and one does not.
Although the bowls might be boring and the attendance bad, they are great. They are great for the players and the added exposure - who knew how good Northern Illinois was? They are great for the universities to get their names out there. They give a spotlight to the programs and it helps recruiting. They are usually great revenue generators for the schools competing and that helps the entire school system.
If you think all anyone cares about is BCS title game ratings, why would any other game than the title game change this?

. They are usually great revenue generators for the schools competing and that helps the entire school system.
This is the biggest myth of the bowl season schools that go to bowl games are losing money cause they are forced to buy a certain amount of tickets and if they arent sold the school takes aloss on them, also the schools haveto buy tickets for band members that isnt a free trip for them/with a playoff those tickets would easily be sold also with a playoff u would get a lot more good matchups that people would want to watch instead of the crap matchups we get now and u could still have bowl games too

The biggest myth is that these schools are taking a loss on any amount of tickets. They arent. They get money from the bowl for participating. That money always offsets the cost of travel and accommodations and the cost of the tickets.
It was like when UCONN was saying they were losing money by playing in that bowl and then it came out that they werent losing any money at all. But they were upset because they werent making as much as they planned.
Nobody loses money from going to a bowl game. Some schools just dont make as much as they want/expect and like UCONN, they report it negatively.
Do a little more research and you will see I am not bullshitting you.

Which is exactly why TCU went to a Basketball Conference instead of another traditional Football Power Conference.
They dont want competition. They want an auto bid into the BCS.

wow...Frogs went undefeated playing the 90th toughest schedule or so....(slightly tougher in 2009)....that IS impressive your deep frog love makes sense....if they continue to play the 90th toughest schedule or so.....AND keep the same players....(they lose 15 starters or so) Frogs will struggle late in the cold /road....many of those BE venues are tough places to play.........and looks like Louisville and Syracuse will be tough again
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.

The bcs bowl money gets evenly split between all the schools in the conference, the schools making money are the schools that arent going to bowl games, and yes after figuring in u conns expenses they lost money u are bullshitting big time

lmfao @no one loses money from going to a bowl game u are LYING "It's
hard to believe, but UCONN won the right to lose money by being the Big
East's BCS participant. According to the New Haven Register, the school
is now set to lose at least $2.5 million on the deal. The main reason
is the bowl ticket guarantees that participating schools have to make.
UCONN will probably have to eat some 10,000+ tickets at face value
prices that start at $111. Unless it's for the BCS national championship
game, those prices are ridiculous as proven by the secondary market." dont bring your BULLSHIT AND LYES TO ME ABOUT THE BCS i KNOW THE REAL STORY

the answer is somewhere in between...best way is to give examples
dontcha think ?....although much more fun and energy efficient to simply
name call.......
Question is better stated as this?
* did the schools participation in a given bowl...make...or lose money for the conference ?
as it is a revenue sharing system..........
agreed the reporting on this topic is
shockingly biased and incompetent...as to simply say the schools
themselves lose money is totally backasswards....because the school
doesn't get the money.....OR pay the bills ....(for the most part)
a popular case is Western Michigan's trip to the 2008 Texas Bowl (seems
like I lost that bet)....in which they only sold about 500 of a 11,000
or so ticket requirement.......> a loss of $462,534 ....BEFORE
expenses....payout was $625,000.....so clearly a losing proposition
right ?.....maybe not
the schools are reimbursed by the conference for expenses (including unsold tickets)....but varies greatly by conference....
* PAC 10 and Big 12 pays for any unsold tickets....ACC partially
pays....while the Big East doesn't pay anything (the school must pay for
ALL tickets unsold)
In this case ....WM's payout of $625,000 went directly to the
MAC.....which pooled it with the other bowl revenue (including 2.1 M
from the BCS).....giving the MAC a total bowl revenue of 5.8
M.....after expenses .....which were 3.9 M...the MAC had a "bowl profit" of 1.9 M.....which were split among the member schools (12) and usually the league office (they don't have to disclose this so just guessing)....meaning each school got 1.9 M divided by 13....or about 150K
SO...along with the (limited) exposure...WM didn't necessarily LOSE money by going to a bowl....but would have made MORE (and other MAC teams also) by staying home........ *it is unclear to what extent they were reimbursed for expenses...I seriously doubt (although could be true) that the MAC pays 100%....(extra traveling parties + coaches bonuses..etc....excluded maybe)
the revenue from BCS games (each D1 school gets a cut)....basically ensures that the majority of schools come out ahead....but it is also accurate to suggest that many make more....by not going anywhere(like Michigan AD openly admitted for 2 years previous)
