NCG lowest TV ratings in 10 yrs

The NCG is the lowest rated BCS Championship game in the last 10 years. Tim Tebow drew twice as many viewers on Sunday afternoon. I guess the rest of the country just doesn't appreciate bad offense err, I mean good defense

IT WAS GOOD DEFENSE...NOT GREAT.......ON BOTH SIDES.....IT WAS AVERAGE OFFENSE FOR ALABAMA......IT WAS VERY BAD OFFENSE FOR LSU......DID NOT PASS THE 50 YARD UNTIL THE 4TH QUARTER.....SOO SAD

Without a playoff system, the game was meaningless.  At least sane people are coming to this realization and turning away.

It was good defense, but really really really bad offense by lsu. They didn't even look like they belonged on the same field as alabama.

The low rating was partly because the game was on ESPN, and not network TV.

It was also because the game was unwatchable and boring as hell unless you bet alabama...

I agree it was a boring game, but the game still had 50% more viewers than a MNF game.

It was the lowest rated BCS Championship game....EVER!!! In the 14 years it has been in existence.

That is the reason.
If anyone was to check TV ratings on any night of the week you will find the 4 big networks (CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC) always lead cable networks. I don't usually watch the major networks but other people do.

The Fiesta Bowl also on ESPN was up 36% from last year. The Rose Bowl was as well. The NCG was down 14%. All three games were televised on ESPN last year as well. So no it wasn't the fact it was on cable.

It was a regional issue, with both teams being from the SEC, and it being a rematch, not as many people were interested in viewing, but remember this... If they go with a playoff system, like most are wanting, having two teams from the SEC competing for the championship will happen much more frequently..... at one point in the season the top 3 teams were from the SEC. This season would not have mattered, with a playoff we would have still seen LSU and Bama playing in the BCS.

I think since you only had 1 conference in the game you lost 8%-11% depending on who has the most accurate #'s
If it would have been say LSU vs Ok st (or whoever) I think you would have seen a 8+ % increase because of the additional conference
and more  people (area of country) would be interested
Not a bash on  SEC but I think alot of people just didnt care for a rematch or how bad the 1st game was
