This a big statement game for both team. This is a even bigger game for USF as they are calling it "The Next Big Game in USF history" They are reaching ticket sales to 60,000+. This place is going to be rocking and this USF program has a knack at winning big games as they have arrived to the National stage over these last several years. CIN is good no doubt but has not played anyone worth a damn in my eyes nor faced a D this talented. On the other side neither has USF but beating a lowly FSU team still says a lot. Bowden has athletes although they are young and dumb its a program that has historically been good. It still says something.
Pike is a very good QB but he has yet to play in a hostile environment this year. Not to mention he has yet to face a quality D. He is going to get both sides of the spectrum and will have one of the fiercest pass rushers in the country coming at him all night in Geoge Selvie.
Here is something that has really stuck out to me but USF defensive stats are off the charts. This is Joe Tresey though and he has built the reputation at USF of being a defensive team. These boys have a lot of speed on this side of the ball. USF has given up 47 points this year so far making them #5 in the country in scoring D and we catch them at home! They have allowed only 5 td so far this year. They have intercepted a pass 21 of the last 31 games and you know how much Pike loves to air it out. Even more defensive stats that i think will play a big role tonight...
Red Zone D 2nd in the country Turnovers gained 3rd in the country Pass D 8th in the country 3rd down D 11 in the country Sack 20th in the country
One more thing I want to highlight on the defensive side of the ball and thats a kid by the name of Jason Pierre-Paul this boy is big and fast and compliments Selvie and this D-line very nicely. Remember his name tonight. Should be a game changer as all focus for the O-Line of Cincy will focus primarily on Selvie.
The offensive side I am not to worried about. They are very talented at WR and the RB positions not to mention the Frosh QB is coming into his own at the right time. I am not going to go in depth with it as I strongly believe defense and a electric environment will be the difference in this one. I expect CIN to look like a different team that we have not seen yet. I expect them to look lethargic and to make a lot of mental mistakes. I want a team that has been in these situations before and group of coaches that knows what takes to get it done in big games.
By the way the ball bounces funny for Thursday night road faves. Why go against it when it has been a cash cow! BOL all!
Oh and one trend that sticks out is CIN is 3-13 ATS as conf. road faves 2pt or more...

good writeup i think i have a similar angle with you(pressure on pike and INT's)....pike played in oregon st though i'd say that was a challenge, but yes this atmosphere will be more intense than that since it is a conference game on the road in the spotlight vs a smash mouth defense

Going to wait til half to add another play if at all. The more I have looked at this total the more I think the over is the right play. This total seems very high for 2 very good Defenses. I really thought this total would have been around 42-44...

I saw a reference in another thread about the defenses USF has played. Syracuse is the highest ranked defense they've faced. That's crazy onsidering it's week 7. One could make the arguement that this will be the first decent defense Daniels has faced in his young career. Lot's of angles to look at tonight.

USF ML +110 (7U) Wish i would have put this in last night. But the line movement explains a lot to me who is going to win this game...
