I've LOST $36,793 the last 2 Years......

Between a combination of College Football, The NFL  (N.o F.'in L.ogic), College Hoops, The NBA and sprinkle in some Good Times and occasional winning % with Major League Baseball (The ONLY sport that is sometimes predictable - I have Handed over $36,793 and closer to $40,000 IN CASH to my Bookie.....

Here's The Question ?!?!? -  Is there any way I will EVER get that money back?  If so, how?  Any ideas?  I am a compulsive Gambler, LOVE the Thrill of a wager / large or small and can't imagine just stopping altogether.     I know if I keep going, I will WIPE OUT my 401K / retirement money! 

So - Does anybody have a plan / idea / strategy on how I should go about trying to get that money back?  For starters, I have the Yankees tonight and BOOM - there goes Altuve. Why didn't Joe take Severino out earlier?  Anyway - Share your thoughts....

Can I get my $40,000 in CASH back ? And how do I go about it?

Do you have a good paying job? How about taking a break and see how much money you can save in a year by not playing at all.....ive gone 2 years straight and focused on other things.  Once a year goes by and you have money saved up just use that bankroll and see what you can do with it in moderation.......like picking your spots and risking your entire savings.  Don't be a compulsive player and play everyday.

Sorry to hear, you wouldn't be the first. You should stop playing for a few months, if you can't then limit your wagers at 5% of your bankroll and stick with it. GL

Also I'm not sure about your mentality and age but those are major factors......if your young and based off you picture and screen name again.... I don't know you personally but it seems you have this mob fantasy of being a syndicate or goodfellas persona that a lot of young betters tend to gravitate to causing them to think they are part of a mob society and money is status.....Best of luck

I like this thought ......Thank You !  I make enough $$$ to Live comfortably, but NOT enough to lose $15K per year in cash. 

I started gambling when I was 18 years old by LUCKILY / but UNFORTUNATELY winning a Tri-fecta at the Meadowlands (East Rutherford, NJ for you Out of staters) in 1977 -  Ever since then, the nightmare started and continued on and off for the NEXT 40 years.....It's Fun to wager a few dollars on games, you know? the thrill, the Buzz....But to continue Losing?  Year after Year?  OUCH !

The Mafia reference is from having grown up in and around NYC / Brooklyn / North Jersey in the 1970's and 80's.....having walked into a Bar in the Bronx in 1980 to pay the bookies and it WAS A SCENE STRAIGHT OUT OF GOODFELLAS !  Believe me when I tell you, Identical to the Movie.....Anyway , I have cousins that are / ("were") connected, maybe not Made guys, but DEFINITELY connected.....and relatives that were Cops....So I have seen my share of Mob Stuff. I am Italian and almost 60 Y/O .....I had guys in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, bend my arms when I told them I needed an extra week or two to pay $7,000 back in 1982 .....

Ok well I apologize for the mob mentality post 

I took 2 years off because I dated someone with a daughter so I was basically a father figure for 2 years and saved a lot of money and focused on other things in life......Take a break save up and 1 year goes by quick!  Refresh yourself and pick your spots in moderation best of luck

Take a year or two off and get the thought of your loses out of your head. You are trying to chase your losses and that's why you keep losing. You need to forget about your losses, start fresh

I hate to say this since I am in a similar boat but not 40 grand.....but, there is literally no way to recoup that I'm sorry to say.  The very thought of having to wager that much and win consistently to JUST break even will take you the rest of your life unfortunately.

Thanks "Big "D" ......I appreciate your compassionate post.  I'm inclined to agree.  There's NO WAY I am going to get that money back.    

Maybe a Good Stock Pick ?   HMNY - They are behind this thing called Movie Pass -   Google That symbol and see what ya
think.   Helios & Matheson   HMNY  -  I bought alot of it when it was $9.00 a share.....  Maybe the stock market is the way?
