I think you might have taken one too many hits to the head.  Utah St played Cinci in the Bowl in 1997.  Utah St lost to BYU in 2001 54-34.

I doubt many people actually gamble on College football in Utah to begin with... let alone the players on the team.. Everyone in Utah is either an inbreed or some kinda weirdo lol...nah but shit is different in every locker room, im sure there are college coaches who actually take a look at point spreads and act accordingly. Refs impact the game way to much today, esp with all this roughing the passer bull shit that you would never see in the late 70s and 80s...hell i think im gonna write a book interviewing prior players from big D1 schools and get each players take on Gambling and how it has affected them or their teams...

Maybe not in UTAH but I KNOW for a FACT that players from RU and SU in the Northeast in the "80s" AND '90s" - KNEW the spread EVERY WEEK!!!!! We TALKED about it!!! "After CLASS" of course.LOL

played against the GREAT UOFU AND BYU TEAMS... i played linebacker and let me tell you one thing about playing byu and UofU........  no mercy, no love,  score score score.........utah state has actually cover all of its ATS games this year....  utah, texas aggies and southern utah......they can actually score... the qb has a gun, the defense is weak, very weak.... so byu should have a field day with the weak secondary and small dline.....
   the new head coach for utah state has an aggressive offense....
