if a CLOSE loss......yes
     *as they will drop to #2 behind Bama...LSU goes to SEC title game....they beat Ga...then face Bama in BCS title game

If LSU beats Hogs......and Bama wins....both are in

UNLESS........Georgia blows out LSU in SEC title game....then Hogs are maybe in assuming they stayed close to LSU.......However....if Hogs got blown out by LSU.....and Okie St blows out OU......then Okie St has an outside shot.....due to their strength in the computers..

Kirk Herbstreit just said that if Arkansas beats LSU that Alabama would be #1, Arkansas #2 and LSU #3, which was what I said about 3 pages ago.  I agree that if the Arky/LSU game is close maybe you can flop LSU and Arky around, but Petrino will be livid if he beats LSU in Baton Rouge, has the same record, as LSU, and is still ranked behind LSU.  Basically, if Arky beats LSU, we will have a huge mess!!!

The Texas/Oklahoma thing was a little bit different because Oklahoma was crowned Big 12 champs.  That was Big 12 tie-breaker issue more than anything else.  The SEC has a much more sensible tie-breaking proceedure in place.

I agree that Texas got screwed and said so many times.

LSU may blow Arkansas out, but I don't think it'll go down like that.  I think it'll be a close game like it usually is and already have +14.

That would certainly make things a lot more interesting wouldn't it???  The way this season has gone, that's exactly what'll happen.

You mention something that people or not talking about this year and thats losing the last game, you're right it's always been a factor.

I think the BCS is being ruled by some unknown people and what they say is the final say....from year to year as things seem to change at will.

If they beat Arkansas , can't Miles just sit everyone and play the 3rd stringers and lose by any amount and not be kept out of the BCS title game? Kinda like an NFL team in week 17 that has locked up a 1 or 2 seed and rests everybody

Can't miles do that , and get away with it so that NO KEY players get injured in a meaningless SEC title game. After all if LSU wins Friday and goes to Atlanta , and Bama wins over Aurburn , why should LSU have to even bother playing there startes in Atlanta againsr UGA.

If LSU plays UGA , and losses a key player or two in that meaningless game , and then Bama beats them in the BCS game they should put an asterick next to that title in the record books.

*LSU beat Bama in regular season , than lost 3 key players in a meaningless SEC title game against UGA (they were locked into the #1 or #2 bcs spot reglardless of outcome)*

No real reason to sit players in the SECCG.  They'll have 5 weeks to heal before they have to play in the BCS NCG.

In any game any player has the possibilty to have a season ending injury, that is a fact and you know that already

So if your Miles , and you are #1 heading to Atlanta , you can't fall past the #2 spot even if you lose by 40, why play any of you key players?

If your Miles , sit them all , get blown out , then go and be 100% healthy for the rematch agaisnt Bama.

This happens in the NFL every year. The #1 or #2 seed sit all the key players in the last regular season game, and Miles should file suit here.

Lose the SEC Championship and ruin a special Undefeated Season to rest and prevent player injury for a game 5 weeks away

If Miles plays everyone , and then a couple of kids tear up their ACL's , and don't get to play in the 'Bama rematch , he will get crucified in Baton Rouge

I'll admit , it's not a high percentage , but, if he loses 1 key play in this meaningless game , the Baton Rouge media will show no mercy.

Tell me why it's any different than in the NFL. The only team in recent history that played all thier players through the end of the year were the '07 Patriots, they were going for history. There is only 1 team in the NFL that ever went undefeadted , there have been many college teams that have , it's not worth the risk.

How about this then.  LSU wins the SEC title if it wins the CCG game.  That by itself would be a worthy accomplishment. 

Plus, if Les tanks the SEC title game by using scrubs and they get hammered, the coaches & harris poll will punish them for making a farce of the BCS and rank them below Stanford or whomever else is next in line.

I don't think Les will tank the CCG game for LSU. But I wonder whether he'll have pressure from Slime that losing wouldn't so bad if it were a close game.  If LSU loses the CCG, then SEC would send 3 teams to the BCS bowls.

LSU will lose eventually............ and will be okay with it.

And when LSU loses, you won't see 2 million people asking for a rematch.  Just on to the next game.

But losses are inevitable in sports.  And Bama somehow does not understand that.
