The reason it's a bad beat is because he lost the spread by .5. If Rutgers didn't have that extra point blocked in the 2nd quarter, they would've covered. It can be a bad beat without "outplaying" the opposing team. Anytime you lose by .5 points it's a bad beat. Game could've gone either way.
Get em next time, Scal. Wasn't a bad play. Just lost by a half point.

Guys when taking a favorite NEVER leave the line at half pt. The 10 or 20 juice it costs is Nothing compared to The Few hundred you lose out on by not buying it. Just like when taking an underdog on a half or, buy up. Today. My colorado was +4.5 and if I didn't spend the extra 10 to get it to 5 I would've lost 250. Amazing what that half pt can do for you. Tough luck scal you will bounce back

All through the beginning of this thread you stated that Michigan couldn't lose THE GAME ITSELF and you had 3 and 4 people here rebuking you saying they very well could and that your season was over. You said nothing about the +2.5 being this insurance of some sort (which would have been ludicrous since 3 and up is when conversations start about spreads).
And now you are here somehow agreeing with VV as though this is some kind of nice hit and all the talk about your season being over for Michigan is lost in the shuffle.
It is fool's gold to think that Michigan was the right side because of a missed extra pt making the cover possible. You will be a loser in the long run, a very big loser in the same way you thought Mich couldn't lose this game (and as predicted with a thorough write up, they of course did exactly that).

Excuse me. I DID NOT PLAY THEM AT 3.5 and wouldn't have. So don't come in here outlining quarters and covers at your number when my number was 2.5 and I posted at that number for a reason, a very big reason as it is a vastly different position than 2.5.
I said in the OP this is a 3 star play precisely because the line should be a Pick'em.
I had to swallow the 2.5 and did and a missed xpt did me in.
I'd like to add that the refs absolutely bombed Rutgers with penalties the entire game.
Before Michigan fans debate that last 'catch', ask them to debate thepass interference call where a Rutgers corner was basically tackled by A Michigan receiver to prevent an int and pass interference was called on RUTGERS!

If this is a lookahead spot, Rutgers will want to look at Michigan for as long as possible. This may be their only Big 10 win this year because a slew of losses are forthcoming with:

@ Nebraska
Wisconsin
Indiana
@Michigan State
@ Maryland
I'd say there's but a single win left on that schedule, if that.
But Michigan is ripe for the taking.
I can assure you, you will get a 100% motivated Rutgers squad who will do everything possible to get this one.
You hate backing Gary Nova? He's only the most prolific passer in Rutgers history. Yes, he can be brutal. Yes, he can turn the ball over (multiple times). But he can also leave it all out on the field when the time is right. This is his last call and perhaps his last shining moment as Rutgers QB. He'll want that moment to end with a win.
One con for Rutgers: They lost their first string RB Paul James vs. Navy. That was not a good thing. Desmon People's is undersized at 5'8'' 175. Still he ran for 85 yards vs. Tulane. While Michigan isn't Tulane, Rutgers should be able to utilize him appropriately vs. their D.
I am posting today because the line has just moved a full point in our favor and it's time to pounce.
It opened at Rutgers -3.5. The public sees Rutgers as nothing more than a laughing stock and the game has been bet down to 2.5 obviously under the most key number of 3 for bettors. The public then shrugs and says "Well it is STILL Michigan so I'll take em!" No, it's not and no this isn't a laughing stock of a Rutgers team in this spot. We will swallow 2.5 as we have no other choice. A FG is enough to take it and a 10 point lead backdoored to 3 won't result in a push.
The crowd will be absolutely rabid for this game so expect full fan support and an even bigger media contingent than the Penn State game.
This game has Louisville@Rutgers 2006 written all over it.

I did take the Rutgers ML for a large chunk personally but I'm not going to post a -145 ML.
No one needs help or a write-up picking such a thing. And I took it for precisely what you said: the pts being off-putting.
I just didn't have another game I could parlay the ML in college with. The spreads are too big and all the spreads in the NFL tomorrow are sizable. So for the post, it was ATS or nothing.

Oh stop it. The NFL is going to get rid of the extra pt within the next three years for the exact reason kickers make them 99% of the time.
College will follow along someday (although their kickers are less reliable obviously).

Yup. And the refs had it in for them too.
Rutgers had to beat Michigan and the Refs and did both... and fell .5 pt short.
I did not expect the ridiculous onslaught of flags from the refs the entire game AT HOME.
Were they on the take? No. But they were treating Michigan like they were the Notre Dame in South Bend.

Interesting comparison.
A first half bet laying 20.5 is as bad a beat as a game where you call the team to win, have a spread under three, have the refs up your a** the entire game, have that team win and have a missed extra pt be the difference between a 2 and 3 pt win.
For SC ML, SC gave up 45 pts and lost by 7. That's hardly a comparison to a 2.5 pt line and a .5 pt loss.
