Lol it's cool for their program which has been largely irrelevant forever with the exception of Ray rice but the b1g is terrible now so it's not as glorious as your making it out to be.

Michigan has been god awful I'll be the first to admit it.  This is the end-all be-all game.  Lose to Rutgers this season/hoke everything is done.  We are 1 more game from completely bottoming out.  With so many good games on sat I doubt I'll even watch much of this

Michfan15, you are in denial. The bottom has already fallen out.  Have you not observed what has happened the last 3 weeks?  Why do you consider this the "end-all-be-all" game?

A win vs Rutgers does little to save Michigan's season. But for Rutgers this could be their game of the year. Also factor in the motivation angle scalabrine discussed. It's possible Michigan wins, but unlikely IMO.

If Michigan can't get up for home games vs Utah and Minnesota why would you expect them to suddenly get up for a game in unfamiliar territory vs Rutgers?

because the pressure was not as great in the last two games as it is now...we are literally at the brink now.  by no means will beating rutgers save the season but losing to them will literally be catastrophic.

gotta look "big picture" theoretically if michigan wins vs rutgers and magically gets their garbage together they could be 7-4 (psu, indy, nw, md - wins, msu-loss) going into the osu game.  so its not 'all over' yet.  that being said, the chance the aforementioned scenario actually happens ill put in the +2000/+3000 range

If you think this Michigan team is going to beat Rutgers, Penn St, Indy, Md, and Northwestern then you are truly delusional. Not sure what you have seen on the football field this year that suggests they could beat any of those teams, much less all five. They just got beaten soundly at home by a decent Utah team and a bad Minnesota team-that is reality. They have no o-line, no running game, and a quarterback who can't read defenses and makes poor decisions as evidenced by the high number of turnovers. Defense is decent, but how are they going to score? If they take care of the ball they could win a couple of these games, but no way they finish 5-2.

Love all of your posts Scal, you are truly one of if not the best reads on Covers. Thanks for your insight and good luck to you!

    Folks,

If you want to know the reason why this number dropped from 3.5 to 2.5, look no further than this post above.

It takes a lot of money to come to 3 from 3.5, and even more to go to a number like 2.5.

Why did it move? Public bettors like Mich fan (look no further than his avatar/handle).

"Lose to Rutgers and we are finished!" he says, as though the season isn't deep in the hopper already getting flushed to its septic destination.

That is precisely why more Michigan money had moved this line a full point, over the most crucial of spreads.

It is Michfan's Achilles heel and Rutger's "Choppin Wood" chant had just turned to "Choppin Heels", public heels, that will pay dearly at the window only to be left squalid on the liquor stained sportsbook rug wondering what hit them when they've fallen and can't get up.

Mich, I wish you the best but you are walking into a lion's den and your meat suit has all the teriyaki sauce glaze to make that beast salivate.

    @LV @TNT @why @johhny @mauk @k97 I appreciate the kind words and valid retorts!

i think its going to be a closer game than you think...ive read your long-form write ups before and they are usually pretty good and often win, i won't be surprised when michigan wins this game

and fyi i am far from a public bettor, i made this account as a freshman at michigan and been too lazy/indifferent to change it plus charles woodson is a boss.  i've bet on and against michigan many times and for full disclosure i have nothing on the game tn

    Scalabrine,

First off I've completely been wrong about Michigan for along time.  Since Carr left this program has challenged me in so many ways.  I don't know garbage about them or what they will do.

However this is crazy loading up on Rutgers!  You must seriously be as stupid as I am for loving Michigan by putting money on Rutgers here.  Come on man.

Michigan has history and so much more to play for this weekend.  How can you argue different.

Backup quarterback?  You commented on a backup playing?  ummmm Devin Gardner is actally the starter day 1 and now calling him backup is just stupid.

Play Rutgers!  I question your motive though?  fade a Michigan team that has played terrible on OFFENSE.  or are you playing on a Rutgers team that is really good?  Can you even decide that?

Are you aware of how good Michigan is on defense?  Are you also aware that Michigan hasn't created any turnovers at all and Nova might be the key ingredient to start that?

Im not betting this game and not saying Michigan wins but you are a fool for betting Rutgers.  SImple.

Well see how smart you are after the fact.  But you reasons are stupid.

104 stop! Scalabrine has good insight on this one and Rutgers will prevail. Thanks Scal! We know that you're a big backer of Michigan, and it's easy to support them from your point of view, but it's Scalabrine's post, and I agree. Good write up dude.
