Gosh, I dunno for real.  I honestly hate trying to keep up with my record because it's a hassle and it really doesn't mean anything to me.  I do it cuz it pleases others.  I prefer to keep a lower profile.  That's why I haven't done bowl threads in the past.

I've been keeping track with of my record and units with a bowl recap pretty much everyday so I assume what I'm posting in those recaps is correct.  Is it possible I made a mistake somewhere along the way???  Absolutely.  It certainly wouldn't be the first time.  When I have some time maybe I'll go over it again.  Heading out the door right now though.

    Any thought?

I don't like Houston at all.  I can't back a team that I know will be thoroughly dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball.  The only angle I can see for backing Houston is that Penn State is in disarray and that they don't give a shit about this bowl game much like the 2008 Alabama/Houston Sugar Bowl.  Other than that I think Penn State wins the game outright.

I use to say the exact same thing before Houston use to play ECU (when Skip Holtz coached at ECU), and said the same thing before they played Southern Miss this season.  Houston always struggles against teams that are strong in the trenches.  I think this is a terrible matchup for them because if Penn State is anything, they are very strong in the trenches.

    football10-

And just how do the books fade the public? Who is the public- books take bets on both sides- and adjust accordingly- public wins some and loses some- end of story- all this sharp/public bullshit is just a bunch of nonsense- both sides win money- i win money all year in football- sometimes i bet the "public" bets, sometimes i bet the "sharp" bets- so what am i? In the end i am a winner and that is all that counts- i cap Funny how some guys think by fading one side or the other they will make money- football players have to play the games- how they play doesn't matter who in the hell bets what-

I have booked longer than you have been alive.  You have no clue about the booking business. I have been in the business over 40 years. Don't tell me anything about the business. You basically know only what you have read about books and booking. If you win all the time, congratulations, you are among a very small minority. I have about 40 players and , yearly, I might have an average of 2 players that win over a seasons time.

The percentage of players that bet with you that were consistent winners and the percentage that weren't has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion.  Most informed gamblers know that only a small percentage of gamblers win.  Again, that is beyond the scope of the discussion  The question is simply this.  Do the people who set the lines know who is going to win the games before they are played?  If the answer is "no" then you have destroyed your own premise.

    can'tbeatvegas:

After having taken a closer look at the Penn State/Houston game, I have modified my opinion on the game slightly.  I'm not convinced that Houston will cover the 6.5-point spread, but I definitely think they win the game.

    Penn State vs. Houston

Conventional thinking would lead me to believe that Penn State's huge advantage in the trenches should translate into a Nittany Lion victory in the Ticket City Bowl, but I'm starting to doubt conventional thinking.

Everyone knows the turmoil that has surrounded the Penn State program the last few months.  To compound those problems on again/off again QB Matt McGloin got knocked the fuck out by WR Curtis Drake in a locker room fight.  The resulting concussion has left McGloin's playing status for this game as extremely doubtful.  That means the enigmatic (at best) Rob Bolden is expected to start, and he won't have anyone to bail him out when he starts playing like . . . well  . . . Rob Bolden.

To get a full whiff of how inept Bolden is as a passer, click the link below.

    https://espn.go.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/501541/rob-bolden

So this game presents us with the opportunity to lay 6.5 points with probably the most dispirited team in all of college football who we know will get dominated at the point of attack, and who also recently lost their head coach, or take the 6.5 and back probably the worst passing QB at a major college program in recent memory.  Although I think Houston will win this game, there is no way I can back them with hard-earned money.  The play that I do like is UNDER the 1st half total of 28.

    Locked in:

Penn State vs. Houston UNDER 28 (1st Half) -105  2 Units

    Penn State vs. Houston Continued:

I forgot to mention above that Penn State will also without wide receivers Shawney Kersey and Curtis Drake.

I'm sure they will, but I can't back a team with Rob Bolden under center and no backup.

From the opening kickoff Penn State will be in clock killing mode.  They are going to try to pound Silas Redd (who appears to have fully recovered from his collarbone injury), dominate TOP and keep Keenan off the field.  The good news for Penn State backers is that Houston's run defense is putrid.  The Cougars gave up boatloads of yards to some terrible teams, including UCLA (554), UTEP (538), Marshall (506), and Rice (475).

To counter Penn State's strategy I expect Houston to put every able defensive player they have to stuff the box and stop the run.  If they can't force Bolden to throw the ball - checkmate for the Cougars because Rob Bolden isn't going to beat anyone throwing the ball.

The good news is that Penn State's clock-chewing strategy will keep the scoring way down.  This game should stay way under.

    Adding 3 more units to the Penn State/Houst UNDER 28 (1st Half) @ -105.

It was Utah....dont remind me, that game was awful. I think the game might be similar to S Miss, but Houston did have alot of dropped passes in that game. I dont think that happens again...anoth tough game to figure out, but I do like 7 points.
