If they had to face these teams on a weekly basis they would still be virtually undefeated year after year as they would roll these teams. Point is mute either way however, because year in and year out virtually all of these teams are afraid to face Boise. When teams such the ones you mentioned, or for that matter, teams like Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, etc are willing to step up and play them on a yearly basis then we will truely be able to find out.
Hawaii went into the game undefeated. Many thought they should be playing for the national championship. About half the “experts” on ESPN said Hawaii was going to beat Georgia and almost everyone here thought the game was going to be close.
Hawaii walked around the field before the game wearing shirts that read “13-0: dominate the nation.”
End result: they got murdered 41-10 and it easily could have been a lot worse.
Hawaii’s Heisman finalist QB Colt Brennan after the game said "it was the fastest team I've probably ever seen. We just couldn't get into our groove and do what we wanted to do."
Brennan set the Division I single season passing TD record by feasting on high school teams much like Boise does every season and look what happened the first time he went up against a great and motivated SEC team. He got lit up. His whole "unstoppable" team got lit up.
And that is what is going to happen if Boise plays an SEC team in the BCS championship game.
Heisman talk and no playoffs is for the ignorant and brain dead. Without a playoff, Butler would have never been invited to play for a basketball championship. If NCAA basketball goes down to a 2-team playoff as opposed to 65, I will change my stance regarding the lack of a playoff in college football.
