When one team barely misses out on playing for the national championship and their consolation prize is playing a bowl game against a non-BCS opponent: they don’t want to be there.
Is this really that hard to figure out?
These kids play at these school for 4 years of their life. So even alabama may want to play in the natl title game, they are still in the sugar bowl against utah and its a once in a lifetime opportunity for these guys. Utah just beat them down

I completely agree. We see teams playing an inferior team in a bowl they did not want to play in throw the game year in and year out.
However I don't see any team this season in the NC game besides Alabama and Ohio-State. Boise has a very weak schedule and will need Alabama and OSU to choke, which I doubt as they are playing much depleted yet over-rated opponents (Florida, PennState, etc).

I completely agree. We see teams playing an inferior team in a bowl they did not want to play in throw the game year in and year out.

One thing I remember about that Georgia team was that at the end of the season, you could have made a very good case for them being the #1 team in the nation. They easily could have done to Ohio St. whant LSU did at the same site a week later for the National Championship. Tahat Georia team a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.

I have always been of the opinion that IF these so called inferior teams were in the BS Conferences, they would also be able to get the BS Conference's talented atheletes. They make do with want the big boys don't want or overlook. Give them credit for reaching a higher level. It's not their fault that they come from a non BS Conference. Maybe they won't be undefeated in the SEC, Big 10 etc. but if you get in those conferences, their size, speed and depth would be greatly enhanced and they will be very competitive.

I agree VT could play in the SEC but let me make a point against Boise.
It took a last minute, come from behind drive, to pull off a win against a VT team that totally self destructed in the first quarter, along with the fact that the VT coaching staff ( once again )were outcoached from start to finish and that the 2 penalties on the final drive whether correct or incorrect moved Boise 30 yards closer. It was a dogfight, Boise did what had to be done to win, and congrats to them, because I didn't think they could. but nevertheless alot of things had to go wrong for VT, in order for them to get the win. The point that StraightShooter and many more in this forum is trying to make is that, Boise doesn't have to worry about going to practice, all bruised up and beat up, trying to get ready to face a LSU, Georgia, Auburn, or better yet, Florida or Alabama the following week, like everyone in the SEC does week in and week out. How many times have you seen a team have a letdown the week after a game of lastnights magnitude? It happens all the time people, and the competition level, week in and week out is why Boise would be like the other mid level teams in the SEC, and lose 3-4 games a year.
