It's very funny to hear people react to October upsets with "This is why a 24 team playoff is what we need". I really need people to understand we have 5-6 games remaining in the regular season. There are a few 6-1 teams that will lose again. There are plenty of 5-2 teams that will lose again. There is a 4-3 team that will catch a heater and win 5 in a row to close out the season...
The odds normally tell you what is much more likely and when you look at the Odds to win the National Title:
Georgia +410: 1 Loss team. (vs FLA, @ Ole Miss, vs MIZ, @ SCar, vs GT)
Notre Dame +460: 1 Loss team (Host Miami 11/7, only one road game remaining)
Ohio State +550: 1 Loss team (Oddsmakers know Sayin is out for a while with @ USC, vs ORE, vs NW, @ NEB, vs MICH remaining)
Miami +650: Undefeated (2 Road games remaining; @ ND 11/7 is the marquee game of their schedule)
Indiana +850: 1 Loss team (1 Road game remaining)
LSU +1000: 2 Loss team (BYE before vs Bama, vs Texas, @ Tennessee, @ ARK)
Alabama +1000: 2 Loss team (BYE before @ LSU, @ VAN, vs Tenn Chat, vs AUB)
Texas +1400: 2 Loss team (vs MISS ST, @ MIZ, @ LSU, vs ARK, @ A&M)
Ole Miss +2000: 2 Loss team (vs Aub, vs UGA, @ OU, vs WOFF, vs Miss St)
After Ole Miss is Florida at +4000. ![]()
Very quickly, you see Notre Dame plays Miami, Bama plays LSU, LSU plays Texas, UGA plays Ole Miss so there won't be the log jam of 2 loss teams that some are using for the playoff expansion.
Big 12 teams odds after BYU and Tech both losing?
Utah +4000 undefeated (The Holy War is on 11/7)
BYU +6500 1 Loss with win over ND.
Texas Tech +8000 1 Loss with a trip to Stillwater remaining as well.
Yikes.
