Friday:
Memphis +6.5
I think this is a good spot for a Memphis team that is building confidence and I like the fact that this will be the first road game for UL this year. Memphis is riding a 3 game winning streak, the last 2 wins being pretty significant for them. Beating Arky State with a good defensive effort in the 2nd half (shut them out) and pulling away in the 4th quarter might have been a turning point for Memphis. The following week they beat UAB in UAB and lifted the bronzed rack of ribs. That is two victories over rivals two weeks in a row. Now they play their biggest home game of the year, in front of their largest crowd, against UL. I think this Memphis team has momentum and a confident, competitive spirit that they have not had in awhile...and I think they are looking forward to the opportunity to knock off UL in front of their home crowd.
I think this is a tough spot for Louisville. First road game of the year and they are going to play against a rival who is building momentum and treating this game as their biggest of the year. UL has 8 or 9 starters that will be playing their first collegiate road game. Wood, UL Center said they haven't had to practice a silent snap count all year and now must think about those types of things this week. I think some of those types of little things will make a difference. I know UL has good defensive numbers vs the run, but Brown is the only decent back they have seen this year. Steele, in my opinion, will have some success tonight.
The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two, UL is 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings and the dog is 8-1 ATS in the last 9. I will take a shot with Memphis...gl ![]()
