2026 Week 0 Ponderings

NORTH DAKOTA ST. -6' Jacksonville St. - I just saw that 72% of the action is on the Bison, and yet the bottom has dropped out of this line. Down to -5' on the Covers site. Big $$$ coming in on the Gamecocks!

Some further thoughts on the game in Dublin. I've never been a totals player, but with both teams featuring decent defenses and both teams having new offensive coordinators with transfer QBs, AND the possibility of rain in the forecast, would under 47' be feasible? I'm still LEANING Carolina plus the points, but they were outgained by over 300 yards in last year's meeting and that's a lot of ground to make up. 

A lot of line movement in these Week 0 games. Virginia is now sitting at -4'. I do think the Cavs are better in the trenches but the Wolfpack have C.J. Bailey! I'm not sure they have enough on defense though.

EMU is now up to -10, and NDSt is back to -7. Too many unknown variables in each game. A lot of big money on Jax St. though.

Stanford is back down to -3' over Hawaii. I'm more interested in who these teams are playing NEXT week. The Warriors as a home dog vs. UNLV is appealing, but if they manage to upset the Cardinal on Saturday that'll suck the value out of the line for next week.

Speaking of the Rebels, they're now down to -4' over Memphis. As I mentioned earlier it's a long trip and a late start for the Tigers, but new HC Charles Huff is a winner. Every team he's coached at Marshall and Southern Miss were bowl eligible. 

I'm really curious to see the impact DC Gary Patterson will have on USC's defense. The Trojans COULD hang 50 on San Jose, but last season they gave up 23 points a game, including 16.5 a game vs. a pair of G6 teams to start the season. I'll be shocked if the Spartans come close to that against Patterson's "D". I'm more of a dog bettor, but seriously considering laying the points here. It might actually be the best play of the weekend.

Wow! TCU is now up to 9'! That's a big number to cover in what figures to be a fairly low scoring game. If it hits 10 I may have to snap the rubber band, but it always makes me nervous to see a line jump like that. I think TCU's offense could be pretty good this year, but with a new OC and new QB will there be some growing pains in Week 0?

USC is hovering around 38'-39'. Under Lincoln Riley the Trojans are 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS vs G6 competition, but this is the biggest spread of all seven games. On the other hand it's warranted considering this is probably the worst G6 team they've faced in that stretch.

What to do, what to do. 

nice move betting TCU early..i posted a few days ago that the line would go up...i am taking a shot with UNC so i am waiting to maybe get 10.5 or 11     love UNLV i waited and its 3.5 now which means ill lay 3 always buy hook    or i do      gl this year always nice seeing someone add some reasoning to a play

I haven't played anything yet. Leaning North Carolina and USC, but I might just say to hell with it and move on to Week 1. I started out 0-3 last year  (-9 units) and it took me all season to get into plus money for the year. This new transfer portal era makes for some tough handicapping early on. BOL Rum! I hope the Tar Heels come through for ya!

Seems like any time I play an under I get burned by a pick six or a special teams score. But the under here looks solid.to me, for what it's worth. 

Mr.Boise i noticed that after Phil Steele's power sweep came out, the line shot up. ijs, im a big Steele guy

I have the same problems with playing unders , so I usually avoid em , Belichicks son Steve is out with medical problems and want be with the team , who’s gonna call the defense, IG Bill will manage it, this is such guessing game , if it’s raining, I think it helps NC ,  39 points is A lot how bad is  San Jose state  , yet Lincoln loves to pour it on 

it is supposed to be raining with 15 m/hr winds plus cold temps at kickoff

 Thanks Mr floatinpicks , NC should be more use to this type of weather also , gonna wait closer to game to make A decision but if the weather gets that way  , NC has a better chance and the under if it doesn’t come down too much 

As mentioned above USC is 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS vs. G6 teams under Riley, winning all seven by an average score of 59-15. I think there's a great chance of the Trojans hanging AT LEAST 50 on Sparty. IF Patterson's defense can hold them under two TDs..........but man oh man, 38' is a LOT of points to give up, something I've never done in over 40 years of doing this stuff.

We already knew that UNC D-coordinator Steve Belichick's health issues have sidelined him for the foreseeable future, and that TCU's standout transfer safety, Jacob Fields, is done after a team rules violation, but now we hear that the Frogs top receiver, Jordan Dwyer is out with a foot injury. That's a huge loss for a team that's trying to build chemistry with a new O-coordinator and new QB. And it explains why the line has dropped back down to -7'. BOL to one and all today!
