What a dandy of a game tonight in Connecticut. Two terrific teams who can both easily find themselves in the final four. If it wasn't for a team called Oklahoma, these two teams would be 1 and 1a in the country. Considering the magnitude of the game and the fact that both teams are so evenly matched, I have to go with the x-factor, which is the charged up home crowd. If anyone saw last nights game between Duke and BC, the crowd in BC played a hugh role down the stretch providing BC with a ton of momentum. Tonight at UConn that crowd will be as loud as any this year. I understand the loss of Dyson plays a major role in this game, but Thabeet's presence on D can easily change the game. It can turn a team who loves to feed its bigs or drive to the hoop into a team who gets happy firing three balls all night. To live an die by the three is a dangerous way to play a big game.
I will go with the home crowd and the big defensive presence in the middle. A great Big East game.
UConn 69
Pitt 64

The one thing you can bank on i this game is that it will be physical. That usually leads to fouls building up on probably both sides. Uconn only plays really 6 guys now with Dyson out. Pitt can go at least 7 deep before the level of play dips. Fatigue wont be a huge factor because the pace of the game will be a grind. The small advantage for Pitt also will be the fact that Thabeet is not a huge offensive weapon. That should limit some of the fouls on the inside. I think the depth and fouls will hurt uconn down the stretch.
Pitt and the points for me.

Pittsburgh has covered the spread in 10 of the last 12 games after having won eighteen of the last twenty games and they are averaging over 86 points a game over the last five games.
Looks like P-Burg to me........

This may very well be a physical game tonight, but of 330 teams, UConn ranks #1 in fewest fouls per game at 12.2...Pitt ranks #38 at 16.3 fouls per game, so these are two very disciplined teams going at each other... lots of fouls would definitely be out of character for both of these teams.
