I always look for letdown situations as an aide to picking games, but I like it more when you have an average or mediocre team upsetting someone and then going against them the next game. In this case you're talking about one of the top teams in the country (now rated #1) beating another top team; really only a slight upset. Still, as big as the game was, letdown of some kind has to be considered, especially considering they are playing a solid team who is very tough at home, and has that revenge factor. I just don't know if they have the athletes to stay with Tennessee-they'll have to shoot the lights out to beat them, which they are capable of. Like Texas tonight, I find it very difficult to go against a team playing so well both on offense and defense, regardless of the home court edges they are facing. I think I'll go with another letdown situation and fade Oklahoma St. Good luck.

tennessee may win this game & if they do there is no doubt they are the number one team but it is a classic sandwich game. 3 days after beating undefeated memphis they go on the road to play a very good vandy team who they allready beat by 20 & they have kentucky on deck who they lost to earlier this season. i'm on vandy. some situational betting is bogus but this is a good example of a legitimate angle. no guarantees in life but it's a very good situation for vandy.

Everyone over analyzed the K-State & Texas game tonight. Most everyone on the forum was on K-State. The elite teams come to play on the road. Bruce Pearl will not allow Tenn to come out flat, he is a great motivator. Tenn by 5-7 points.

This is definitely a classic letdown spot normally, but you are talking about a team that has never been number 1 nor has won a conference championship outright in over 40 years. There is definitely plenty of motivation for this one, as a win all but seals the outright SEC Championship, and I would think they would like to be number 1 for more than 2 days if they have any balls at all, which I believe they do. A loss and they have a slim 1 game lead over both Vandy in the East and Miss St in the West.
I would guess they will have to withstand a tough 1st half from Vandy, but if I were to to take Vandy, it would not be big! Only 2 Vandy bench players saw more than 10 minutes last game, so the starters will be tired as the game goes on. It is hard to make 3's even in your own gym with no legs under you, and that's the only way I see them staying close. Tennessee has 20+ fouls to wear down Ogilvy with Crews back this time around, and I imagine they will pound the paint a few times to see if they can get him in trouble as well. I think Vandy loses by attrition in the end, but not by much.... 5-7 or so.
I grew up in Nashville though and can attest it's a hell of a place to play! There are 15000 people in there that honestly believe Vanderbilt has never committed a foul or a turnover in that builiding! Good luck.

Great post... This is pretty much exactly how I feel about this game. Tenn's first time that the Mens program has been #1. They dont want to give it up. In State Rival. Great coach in Bruce Pearl. Riding with a ton of confidence knocking off Memphis on the road. No doubt that Vandy is a good team and very tough at home but you got to go Tenn in this spot imo.

down to 1.5 now geeze....I mean I was hoping Vandy would be under the radar getting at least 3.5. Is this line movement a trap? Seems like Vegas believes in the commodores as well if I'm not misreading these line moves so far since it opened at -2.5.
