mismatch for duquesne
duquesne is the #306 rebounding team in the country at 31.4 per game...and that's for the team that is #87 AT PACE (they should grab WAY more rebounds considering they are #60 in the entire country at possessions per game...they are #332 in the country at total rebounding % (rebound rate)....they are the #340 team at defensive rebounding and #252 at offensive rebounding. they are #315 in the country at effective height. i think ive proven my point that they are awful at rebounding and they are very small
dayton, on the other hand, rebounds very well. i'll just say efficiency numbers, since they average much less posessions (#217 in the country) and RPG (#155 in country) and that's totally only because of their slow pace. but the numbers show they are the #84 offensive rebounding team in the country (efficiency), the #77 defensive, and they are #26 in the entire nation at effective height
the last time they met, dayton outrebounded duquesne 46-19. that's insane. i should point out it was about even the first time they played last year, and duquesne beat them once 82-64 last year
but dayton has a good home court (10-3), and they do many other things well. you have to imagine they're extremely pissed off and embarrassed after losing to rhode island at home, and dropping two back-to-back games. combine that w/ the fact that duqusne is 2-5 on the road this year, with 4 of those 5 losses coming by double digits
another potential mismatch is duqusne's inability to guard the three. they're #236 at guarding the three, likely due to their small guards; dayton shoots a ton of them, and gets 32.4% of their point distribution from threes (#64 in the country). they also have the #20 most efficient offense, rarely turn the ball over, and make their free throws
i just find it hard to believe dayton doesnt get up for this game, and there's a lot of matchup opportunities for dayton to take advantage of here. dayton's beaten temple, la salle, xavier, minnesota, and alabama this year...duqusne's beaten 3 top 100 teams but NONE of them are ranked as highly as any of those that i just listed for dayton
dayton 7-3 ATS at home and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 at home, duqusne 4-4 ats on road
