Why don't we take the flu, pneumonia, etc more serious.  Plenty more deaths from those sickness' than this manufactured bullshit.  Old people are gonna die if they get sick.  It's how the life works.
Once same amount of people are infected, it will blow away those numbers.

Lol. Man y’all should take diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other things that you have more control over as serious as this. World would be a healthier place

For all we know the same number of people have been infected, just wrote it off as the flu.  I know I don't go to the doctor when I have the flu.  I would imagine most 20-50 year olds don't.   The US didn't even test for COVID-19 until a few days ago, unless you were considered a risk (had been out of the country in the previous 14 days), so its likely that LOTS of people have had it and just not been 85 years old with a weak immune system.

Since you work in emergency medicine, you should be concerned that 10-15% need hospitalization and will completely overrun our healthcare system.  Thus, will have more deaths secondary to not having enough beds/resources for other emergencies.  And you're right, so flu's death number could be artificially inflated and thus underestimating COVID-19.   Italy may have a 2nd strain that's deadlier but they also have an older demographic.   I think for people in denial to wake up is when a young famous healthy person dies, since this is so rare with the flu.

you mean gun control kills 38,000 every year and injuries over 200,000. This Covid 19 is a joke unless you are over 80 or sickly and over 60 period.  It is going to spread around the entire world and it will be back next fall get used to it like the flu.

I work in emergency medicine and it’s a complete overreaction and panic
how many deaths do you need before you start taking this seriously?
you mean gun control kills 38,000 every year and injuries over 200,000. This Covid 19 is a joke unless you are over 80 or sickly and over 60 period.  It is going to spread around the entire world and it will be back next fall get used to it like the flu.

No offense but in all instances of medical situations I prefer to take my advice from a person that has initials after their  name like MD.. DMD... ect not a poster on Covers...LOL..  Bunch of smart guys at Harvard disagree... But  hey you may have spent the night at Holiday Inn in that case forget the initials...[image from unapproved source]

Yes that is very concerning....especially with a healthcare system that is already overtaxed. Also the mass panic that is being spread is causing an incredible influx of people to the hospitals with a common cold cuz they are freaked out does not help at all! The overwhelming majority of them not having fit any criteria. I'm not saying it's not dangerous (especially older population or ppl while lots of medical issues....just like the flu). I just believe its being blow way out of proportion.

they are pretty certain 70-80% of the USA population will be infected, even if it goes away during the warmer months they are projecting that it comes back during the fall perhaps even stronger. Even at a 1% death rate that could be a couple of million deaths much more serious than even a pretty bad flu year.

A nursing home had it with 120 people, 60 got infected and 20 died. Look at crowd highlights in the NCAA tourney, students don't go it, the stands are full of q-tip alumnis, because the tickets are expensive and usually far away from each school. The tourney is different than a regular season game.
