This kid is shy, has never had a girlfriend, and I'm ALWAYS trying to hook him up. He had asked me a month ago what I thought about it and I told him it would be awkward.  He said he wouldn't go through with it.  IN the end he did.

I just refuse to pay rent and feel uncomfortable in my own neighborhood.

And yes it is man code.  If it was a girl I just hooked up with---go for it, If it was a girl that I broke up with years ago----go for it, but we just broke up around the beginning of November.  It's still a little too fresh.

As far as teaching, it's my love and passion.  But the last two weeks with all the cuts, adding more time to my teaching day, and I haven't had a pay increase in 4 years.....I could be doing so many other things.

As far as you roommate, that sucks, but then again men are pigs, such as myself.
This bloke could have, and should have done it the right way and that would be to get in and get out. But to start a relationship,thats just wrong and I dont have to tell you he sounds fairly insecure to have to rely on finding a girl this way. In the long run youll be better off.

Teaching is a thankless job.I dont understand how so much money can go in one direction and at the same time be taken away from something so important as child development and education.

Hey KGC--sorry to hear that...i know he's your really good friend, but people make mistakes--try to understand how conflicted he must have been between his best friend and the first girl he wanted/could have as a girlfriend.

I know the breakup was kind of recent, but still, try to think of your friend's happiness. I have been in similar situations (including a girl i dated for four years'---her next boyfriend was a good friend of mine, and they ended up getting married) and I wanted nothing but happiness for them. I am still good friends with both.

The problem I would have with your friend is not that he is dating the girl, not even that he would disregard what you said (as long as he told you to your face that he was going to do so) that he did it behind your back. For that he owes you a genuine apology. But part of being a man is also being man enough to accept that apology. And be happy for your friend who might have a shot at being happy in a relationship for the first time in his life.

I have never post before, but from what I have read in the past on your post.  The love & passion you put in your community & the kids.  They will miss you.  Do what you have to do KGC, passion does not pay your bills.

I would get out of teaching if at all possible, the cuts are just starting and will be massive in 1-2 years. The states are broke many on the verge of bankruptcy and you aint seen nothing yet brother. BOL in your endeavors

Mr. K, your angst will pass. I would suggest while at the mall, buy some new shoes.  New kicks cure a lot of the ills in modern society.

On the flip side, it could be worse. A buddy of mine was married with three kids, and his best friend in college and many years after was schtooping his wife. You would never guess it possible. Ruined my friends life for years.

So you got that going for ya. As far as work goes, don't make a move until you got something lined up. Finish out the year and plot accordingly.

As far as the friend thing goes, he crossed the line, but he kinda let you know he was thinking of it, and you need to remember one thing - WOMEN MAKE MEN DO REALLY STUPID THINGS!!!
 
...and as far as moving goes, why make yourself "homeless" for his benefit?...tell him you're moving WHEN you find a place, and make sure you take ALL your tv's with you!
 
...before you make a career change, remember the "grass isn't always greener"...if you love what you do, the money isn't that important....judging by your records, you look to be supplementing your income just fine... :)
