F1 Austrian Grand Prix 2025 post-qualifying picks

Race prediction: Lando Norris (-275 at bet365)

Norris has just one win since taking the opening race of the year in Australia, taking the Monaco Grand Prix at the end of May. He won the pole in both of those races, and this will be his third pole of the season.

Norris will have extra incentive after his worst result of the year at the Canadian Grand Prix, as a collision forced him to retire and finish in 18th. Plus, he’s trying to shake the memories of a 20th-place finish in Austria in 2024 after starting second.

Consistency has been his trademark throughout the year, which is why he’s second overall in the points standings, 22 points behind Piastri. Before the crashout in Montreal, Norris had finished first or second in seven of nine races, with a podium in eight of nine.

With a chance to gain on his teammate, I think he’s able to close the gap at the Red Bull Ring track.

Best bet: Lewis Hamilton to podium (+100 at bet365)

Is this the race where the legendary racer finally finds the podium with his new team? There's value across the board if you’re wanting to take someone from outside the Top 3 to find the podium this weekend.

Max Verstappen raced to a disappointing seventh in qualifying, but he’s a four-time winner here — most recently in 2023 — and is coming off a second-place finish last time out.

Russell is fresh off his first win of the season and is the defending champion in Austria. However, the Mercedes driver sank to fifth in qualifying.

This is Hamilton's best starting spot of the year, in the second row, and the Red Bull Ring is known for having some exciting passes. He needs to move past just one of the Top 3 to find the podium.

F1 Austrian Grand Prix 2025 pre-qualifying favorites

Oscar Piastri is leading the Drivers Championship and opened up as the favorite to win in Austria. Piastri has five wins this season, including one earlier this month in Spain.

Trailing close behind him at +225 is fellow McLaren driver Lando Norris, who has two wins on the year and nine Top 5 finishes. This would be Norris's first win since May 25 in Monaco.

Rounding out the Top 3 is four-time Austrian winner Max Verstappen at +300. Mega Max hasn't dominated like he has in years past, but he's always a threat to win.

If you expect a repeat winner, 2024 winner George Russell is +800 and fresh off a win in Canada.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Charles Leclerc +400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $400 if Leclerc wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Max Verstappen -120

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
