5/10/2024: The Hurricanes (+2,700) were once again on the losing end of a one-goal game to the New York Rangers (+320), and once again it was an overtime defeat. The goalie change from Frederik Andersen to Pyotr Kochetkov didn't hurt them, but rather it was their shoddy powerplay that's fallen to 0-for-15 in the series (0-for-5 in Game 3). Out West, the Dallas Stars (+460) struck back following a Game 1 defeat in which they choked away a three-goal lead by evening their series with the Colorado Avalanche (+550) in Game 2
5/9/2024: Last night's action began with the Panthers (+450) drawing even against the Bruins (+1,000) with a dominant 6-1 victory behind two goals from Alexsander Barkov. Then, while it looked like the Oilers — who moved from +425 to +500 — might cruise to a Game 1 road win against the Canucks (+1,100), Vancouver stormed back with three goals in less than five minutes to steal a 5-4 win.
5/8/2024: Stellar goaltending, hard hits, and skill were on full display at MSG last night, but no matter how hard Carolina tried, it couldn't knot up the series. The Hurricanes entered Round 2 as the Cup favorites but have seen their odds lengthen drastically following back-to-back losses. Out West, it was the Avalanche who took Game 1 in OT to shorten their odds even further. Keep an eye on where Edmonton's odds will go if it drops Game 1 tonight against the Canucks.
5/7/2024: Matthew Tkachuk gave the Florida Panthers a 1-0 lead in the second period of Monday's series opener vs. the Boston Bruins and it was all downhill from there. Boston rattled off five unanswered goals as Jeremy Swayman stopped 38 of 39 shots to secure the Game 1 victory and wrest home ice from the Cats. It's created something of a logjam on the odds board with the Edmonton Oilers listed as short as +425 while every other team (except the Vancouver Canucks) is between +500 and +750. This is parity. This will shift a bit as the New York Rangers host the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of their second-round set tonight and the Colorado Avalanche open things up against the Dallas Stars.
5/6/2024: Radek Faksa and Wyatt Johnston scored as Jake Oettinger turned away 22 of 23 shots on net as the Dallas Stars toppled the Vegas Golden Knights to earn a date with the Colorado Avalanche in the second round. Despite the lengthy opening round, the Stars are now trading about equal to the New York Rangers behind just the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers at most sportsbooks. The Carolina Hurricanes were considered the betting favorites before Sunday's loss to the Rangers. New York jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period and managed to hold onto the 4-3 win.
5/5/2024: A trip to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs was within reach for the Toronto Maple Leafs late in Game 7 vs. the Boston Bruins. While talk about the future of that core will soon take center stage, the focal point turns to the field. The Bruins will now face the Florida Panthers (+450 to +500) in Round 2. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes kick off the conference semis on Sunday before the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars finish their seven-game epic in the evening.
5/4/2024: Despite dropping down to their-string netminder, the Vancouver Canucks took down the Predators in just six games. Meanwhile, a shutout courtesy of Adin Hill pushed their series with Dallas to seven. Speaking of Game 7, the Bruins and Leafs will square off tonight for the final time to see who will get a shot at the Florida Panthers (+500).
5/3/2024: The Vegas Golden Knights will try to force a Game 7 when they host the Dallas Stars at T-Mobile Arena on Friday night. But first, it will be the Nashville Predators fighting for their playoff lives at Bridgestone Arena against the Vancouver Canucks. The Stanley Cup odds did not shift much after the Toronto Maple Leafs took down the Boston Bruins in Game 6 on Thursday night, but swift changes will come once we see the final eliminations of the first round.
5/2/2024: The Edmonton Oilers once again dispatched the Los Angeles Kings to earn a berth to the second round. A three-goal second period in Game 5, led by a pair of goals from Leon Draisaitl, made the difference. The Dallas Stars wrested command of the series with the Vegas Golden Knights, 3-2, in Game 5 after Jason Robertson scored the deciding goal on the power play in the second period. Game 6 is in Vegas on Friday.
5/1/2024: The Colorado Avalanche (+550) lost 7-6 in Game 1 against the Jets and never looked back. Vezina favorite Connor Hellebuyck was lit up like a Christmas tree all series long, and now Colorado will have a few days of rest. The Canes (+400 also had no issues dispatching the Islanders, doubling them up 6-3. As for teams who avoided Cancun, Matthew Knies' overtime heroics kept the Maple Leafs' (+4,000) hopes alive, while the play of Juuse Saros sends the Predators (+5,000) back home for Game 6.
4/30/2024: The Florida Panthers are moving on after thumping the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-1 in Game 5 of their series. They're about even with the Edmonton Oilers in terms of their betting odds while the Carolina Hurricanes are still atop the board. Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars (+2,200) drew even with the Vegas Golden Knights (+1,800) in the only series that has felt up in the air. 
4/29/2024: The New York Rangers (+600) have some stiff competition in the East, but they were able to pull off what Carolina (+400) and Florida (+500) couldn't — a sweep. As for the West, the Colorado Avalanche (+600) are back in the Top 5 after stringing together three straight wins over Winnipeg, the Vancouver Canucks (+1,700) battled back to take a 3-1 series lead over Nashville, and the Edmonton Oilers (+500) are one win away from Round 2 thanks to a shutout courtesy of Stuart Skinner.
4/28/2024: The Bruins (+800) once again suffocated the mighty Leafs offense to move within a win of Round 2. Two other teams in the East (Carolina and Florida) also had a chance to pull off first-round sweeps on Saturday, but neither was able to do it. Despite that, the Hurricanes (+400) and Panthers (+500) remain atop the odds board. As for out West, Vegas was unable to secure a 3-0 series lead of its own and let the Dallas stars creep back in.
4/27/2024: The Rangers (+650) became the third team in the East, alongside the Panthers and Hurricanes, to build a 3-0 in in their quarterfinal series. The Capitals held an early lead in each of the last two games, but New York has responded each time. Out west, the Oilers (+500) have leapt to as high as second-choice in the Stanley Cup odds wagering after a 6-1 destruction of the Kings in Game 3 in L.A. on Thursday night. The Avalanche (+650) moved a little less dramatically despite putting up another six goals on Connor Hellebuyck and the Jets in taking a 2-1 series lead. Meanwhile, the lack of goals continued in the Canucks' 2-1 Game 3 win over the Predators. 
4/26/2024: Could we be looking at two Stanley Cup quarterfinal sweeps in the Eastern Conference? The Florida Panthers (+550) took a 3-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Thursday night, with Matthew Tkachuk picking up a pair of goals. Meanwhile, the Carolina Hurricanes (+440) got even shorter in the Stanley Cup odds by handing the New York Islanders a third straight loss, this time at UBS Arena by a 3-2 count. It's been a total team effort for the Canes, with only Sebastian Aho potting multiple goals thus far.
4/25/2024: Last night's action started with the Bruins (+1,400) taking Game 3 in Toronto to go up 2-1 in the series but the biggest mover on the odds board was Vegas (+700), which leaped into the Top 5 after stealing both games in Dallas (3-1 win last night). The Kings drew even with the Oilers but Edmonton (+650) remains in the Top 3 with the series now heading to Los Angeles.
4/24/2024: Two series on the East Coast saw teams fall into a 0-2 hole while each West series is knotted up as teams switch playgrounds. The Rangers (+650) took care of business despite the Caps giving them a scare late, and the heroics of Sergei Bobrovsky secured his team a big win, making sure the Panthers (+550) held home-ice advantage. The Cats only trail the Canes on the odds board. As for the Western Conference, the Avalanche bumped back into the Top 5 after grounding the Jets in a 5-2 win, while the Predators were able to keep the Canucks quiet in a 4-1 dub.
4/23/2024: The Carolina Hurricanes showed why they're drawing the shortest odds on Monday night as they downed the New York Islanders 5-3 to take a 2-0 series lead. Carolina is a well-rounded squad that doesn't panic when things look bad, which they did in Game 2. Trailing 3-1 entering the third, the 'Canes rattled off four unanswered goals to take a commanding series lead as play shifts to Long Island.The Toronto Maple Leafs also played catch-up, overcoming an early 2-1 deficit to even the series with the Boston Bruins at one game apiece. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers stunned the Los Angeles Kings in a 7-4 beatdown to open their series and the Vegas Golden Knights stole one from the Dallas Stars despite registering only 15 shots on goal. The Oilers are just a step behind the Hurricanes on the odds board, showing how the potent offense can often make up for a shaky back end.
4/22/2024: A thrilling weekend of playoff hockey concluded with some barn-burners, including the Winnipeg Jets' 7-6 victory over the Colorado Avalanche that was bookended by first and third periods that saw six total goals scored. Winnipeg's lone tally in the second period proved to be the difference. Despite the high-scoring game, or perhaps because of it, both teams are trading around +1,300 at most books. Chalk largely won out over the weekend as the home team won all six matchups. The odds remain tight at the top with the Hurricanes (+550 to +600) the narrow favorite over the New York Rangers (+650 to +750) and the Florida Panthers (+600 to +650). There are four games on Monday's slate, including the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to even the score against the Boston Bruins after a demoralizing loss in Game 1.
4/21/2024: Two opening-round playoff series got underway last night with the favored Hurricanes shortening a bit (+550) after handling business against the Islanders in Game 1. Meanwhile, the Bruins (+1,000) drew first blood against the Leafs with a 5-1 domination at TD Garden. Four more series kick off on Sunday, including the No. 2 betting favorite Panthers taking on Tampa Bay this afternoon.
4/20/2024: The playoffs get underway today, with only minimal movement from yesterday's market. The outright favorite Hurricanes begin their first-round tilt against the Islanders in the first game, while the Maple Leafs and Bruins renew their rivalry for the nightcap.
4/19/2024: The NHL playoff field has been set following Game 82 results out West. The favorite to win the Prince of Wales Trophy, the Dallas Stars, saw little odds movement following their matchup confirmation with the Vegas Golden Knights. The same can be said for the Edmonton Oilers, who drew the Los Angeles Kings. But it's still the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers from the Eastern Conference ruling the roost here, and they are each sizable favorites in their respective first-round matchups with the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning.
4/11/2024: The NHL playoffs kick ass. Sixteen teams make it and beat the hell out of each other until one remains to lift Lord Stanley's Cup — and right now the team favored to do so is the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes were heavily favored coming into the season before injuries caused them to fall early, but the return of Frederik Andersen has made this team into a whole new beast. Carolina looks every bit the part of a Cup contender, and it's no fluke the books bumped it ahead of powerhouses like Florida (+700) and Edmonton (+750).
4/4/2024: The Dallas Stars have hung around the top of the odds board for much of the season, but they're current eight-game win streak has them sitting with the same odds as Avalanche at some books or just a bit longer at others (+650 to +700). The Hurricanes, Panthers, and Oilers are still among the Top 5, but it looks like the West may be represented by the Central Division this year.
3/28/2024: Just like most years, the Stanley Cup could go to just about anybody. Colorado and Edmonton have been neck-and-neck all season, but the Panthers have a legit chance to take over that spot once playoffs get underway. The Western Conference is loaded to the teeth and it looks like the Cats are the team to beat in the East.
3/21/2024: We're almost two weeks out from the trade deadline, and the Florida Panthers are looking like the team to beat. They're right by the top of the odds board with the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche, with Boston and New York also hanging around. As for the Golden Knights, they're mired in a slump despite having a busy deadline.
3/8/2024: Minutes before the trade deadline's final buzzer, TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that the Golden Knights had acquired Tomas Hertl from the San Jose Sharks for forward David Edstrom and multiple draft picks. While many questioned the trade's financial sustainability for Vegas in its aftermath, the move sets the defending champs up with a dependable veteran who has logged multiple 60-point seasons and will provide needed front-line depth when he returns from a knee injury. Vegas, who was in the +1,500 to +1,600 range a week ago, has seen its odds shorten, now as low as +950 at some books, and trending there at others. 
3/8/2024: The Carolina Hurricanes moved from the 10/1 range to as short as +800 at some outlets after making the biggest splash late Thursday night by acquiring star winger Jake Guenztel from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Sending away Michael Bunting and an assortment of mid-tier picks and prospects, the deal leaves Friday's deadline barren of any major excitement, but it adds some needed goal-scoring prowess to the Canes' Top 6, as Guentzel has 76 goals over his past two full seasons, 22 goals and 52 points in 50 games this year, and has 34 goals in 58 career postseason games.
Carolina then added more potential offense this morning by nabbing Evgeny Kuznetsov from the Washington Capitals for a third-round pick. The 31-year-old center had 78 points in 79 games two years ago, but saw his production tumble last season and he was assigned to the AHL this year after registering just six goals and 11 assists in 43 games, then entering the league's player assistance program.
The addition of those offensive-minded forwards put Carolina firmly in the "true contender" status, alongside the likes of Florida (as short at +600), Edmonton (+625), and Colorado (+700).
3/6/2024: Despite Edmonton landing Henrique, the Oilers aren't the only contender that has been buys this week. The Florida Panthers, who are second on the odds board at +650,  acquired Vladimir Tarasenko from the Senators. A move like that could be just what this team needed to push them over the edge. Some other smaller moves have been made, but one that sticks out is the Avalanche trading Bowen Byram to Buffalo for Casey Mittelstadt. It'll be interesting to see how these moves help the respective teams, and there's always the chance they aren't done yet ahead of the deadline Friday.
3/4/2024: It looked like the Oilers' magic had rubbed of following the All-Star Break, but a four-game win streak has kept them in sole possession of the top spot on the odds board. The Florida Panthers have also moved up the odds board with nine win in their last 10 games. This run mixed in with a Boston's slide has Florida at the top of the Atlantic Division.
2/22/2024: Two of the league's top teams clashed in Edmonton last night, and it was the Boston Bruins who edged the Oilers by a score of 6-5. If Boston one more convincingly it may have shook the standings, but Edmonton is still favored among the majority of books. Teams like the B's, Avs, Panthers, and Canes all remain within striking distance.
2/15/2024: Following their winning streak being snapped, the Edmonton Oilers have won two of their last three and remain the favorites at the majority of books. As it's been all season, several teams like the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins are priced right behind Edmonton though, and something as small as a three-game losing streak for McDavid & Co. could bump them out of the top spot.
2/7/2024: It had to end eventually, and it was the Golden Knights who put a stop the Oilers monster win streak. The Oilers are still favored at most books considering there was no action over the weekend, but how Edmonton responds to the loss will tell the story of where its odds end up in a week. Closing in on the Oilers are the Canucks, Bruins, and Avalanche.
1/31/24: Two wins. Two wins is all the Edmonton Oilers need to break the NHL's long-standing win streak record. This 16-game streak has catapulted the Oilers into the No.1 spot on the Stanley Cup odds boards at several books, and with the league entering the All-Star Break, that won't change anytime soon. The question is, can Edmonton pick up two more wins?
1/24/2024: Breaking the longest win streak by a Canadian team was cool, but the Edmonton Oilers are now just three wins away from tying the all-time record. Edmonton is still in the midst of a 14-game win streak and is now the sole the favorite at +800. Other teams such as the Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, and Vancouver Canucks are still close behind, waiting for the Oilers to falter.
1/17/2024: After entering the season as co-favorites, the Edmonton Oilers quickly sunk on the Stanley Cup odds board with their atrocious start. However, McDavid & Co. have turned the ship around and are +900 to win it all after being as long as +2,200 in November. The Oilers have won 11 straight as of writing and they finally look like the team we all expected to see from game one.
1/10/2024: You would think losing a player like Kyle Connor would hurt your Stanley Cup chances, but the Winnipeg Jets are winners of seven straight and have went 11-1-2 since his injury. Plenty of players are stepping up offensively and Connor Hellebuyck looks like the best netminder in the world. All of this has propelled Winnipeg into the mess at the top, and books like bet365 have even slotted the Jets into the No. 1 spot.
1/3/2024: Teams have returned from the holiday break and things are just as tight atop the Stanley Cup odds board as they were before the calendar flipped to 2024. The Boston Bruins have a league-leading 52 points, but there are seven teams within five points of the B's. Parity is as high as ever in the NHL, and it's expected to stay that way as we approach the playoffs. A team to look out for is the Edmonton Oilers, wo are starting to gain momentum after a horrendous start.
12/26/2023: NHL action has taken a breather over the last couple of days but is set to return on Wednesday. A clog of four-to-five teams at the top of the odds board is still the case at most books, and Vegas is still near the top despite its mini three-game slide. Keep an eye on Vancouver's odds as it's still going for a great price despite the Canucks' league best 49 points.
12/19/2023: The top of the table is still crammed with talent, but the Golden Knights have been the best story up to this point. They still look like the complete team that won the Stanley Cup last year and their 47 points is a league best. The Knights opened at +1,100 to win back-to-back Cups but are now going as short as +700. As for teams that have seen their odds lengthen, the Canes (+1,000) mini slump has them sliding down odds boards.
12/12/2023: As of right now, the Rangers, Golden Knights, Avalanche, and Bruins are seen as the Top 4, with teams like the Carolina Hurricanes and Dallas Stars right there with them. As has been the case for much of the season, the favorite depends on which book you look at... although there is a consensus of which teams are at the top. Keep an eye on Edmonton, as its seven0game win streak has its odds as short as +1.300 at Betway.
12/5/2023: Much like the most of November, Stanley Cup odds continue to be neck-and-neck with the team on top depending on what book you're using. One team that continues to make waves and are now as short as +900 are the New York Rangers. The Blueshirts 37 points puts them in a tie for the best mark with Boston and Vegas — two teams also near the top.
11/28/2023: The Stanley Cup favorite continues to depend on what book you use, with the Vegas Golden Knights, Boston Bruins, and New York Rangers all tied for first place in the NHL. Speaking of the Rangers, they are oh so close to sliding into the Top 3 spot, although teams like the B's, Knights, and Avalanche are still getting the nod. The Blueshirts odds will be one to monitor as we head into December.

You can look at three different books and have three different favorites, but one thing is apparent in all of them, and that's the rise of the Boston Bruins. 11/14/2023: We're now a full month into the NHL season, and the league's elite are starting tp shine through. Vegas is still the favorite on the back of the 12-2-1 start, with Colorado and Carolina Hurricanes staying close at the top. Another team to look at is the Boston Bruins, who have just one regulation loss and are going as short as +900.
11/7/2023: The Vegas Golden Knights continue to crush the competition, sitting as short as +700 with just one regulation loss through 13 games. This team plays a complete 200-foot game and is primed to go on another run with virtually the same roster as last season. Colorado (+800) isn't far off and has looked hungry to get back on top. The Oilers' freefall continues as the 2-8-1 squad is now going for as long as +2,000 depending on the book.
11/1/2023: The Vegas Golden Knights opened with +1,100 odds to win the Cup and have looked like the perfect team in the early going, boosting their odds to +700. The Knights are yet to lose in regulation through 10 games and look primed for a repeat. Sitting behind them are the Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes depending on what book you use. Meanwhile, a slow start has the Edmonton Oilers odds as long as +1,500 after sitting at +900 to start the year.
10/24/2023: What was once a neck-and-neck race has now seen someone being to separate themselves from the pack. The Colorado Avalanche are a perfect 5-0 on the season and look to be the cream of the crop in the Central Division. Toronto and Carolina's odds are still near the top, but defensive troubles need to be solved if these teams want to play into June. Outside of the Top 3, the Vegas Golden Knights odds continue to grow shorter and shorter, with bet365 sitting at +750. 
10/17/2023: One week into the season the Top 3 spots on the odds board are still shared by the Avalanche, Maple Leafs, and Canes as they have all picked up multiple wins thus far. Outside of the Top 3, Edmonton's odds have taken a slight hit after starting 0-2, while the Dallas Stars have moved into the No. 4 spot after getting some love.
10/10/2023: The regular season kicked off with a three-team race between the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, and Carolina Hurricanes. All three teams have what it takes to win the Cup, making it no surprise why they're so close on the odds board. Several other teams are around the +1,000 - +1,200 range, including the Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, and Vegas Golden Knights.
