MLB betting odds are on the board for a 14-game Sunday slate to wrap up the weekend. Interleague play highlights the day, with Zack Greinke and the Houston Astros taking on the San Diego Padres, while the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs wrap up a three-game set.
Multiple oddsmakers provided insights on MLB opening lines and early line movement, sharp money and public betting for Sunday’s games. Covers will update this action report with MLB sharp picks vs. public bets and line movement throughout the day.
MLB line movement
UPDATE 4 P.M. ET SUNDAY: There was plenty of movement on Astros-Padres today at William Hill US, but the late push is on Greinke and Houston, who opened -120, dipped to -109 and are now at -126. The Padres are +115 home underdogs. And after opening -220, the Dodgers are up to -250 against the Rockies (+220).
UPDATE NOON ET SUNDAY: PointsBet USA opened the host Cubs -190, and the price moved a few cents to Cubs -186/White Sox +155. The Braves opened -135 at home against the Phillies, and that line has already moved to a -110 pick 'em. Astros-Padres opened at Houston -120/San Diego even money, and that's where it is right now at PointsBet USA.
---
The Padres put the brakes on the Astros’ nine-game winning streak, as San Diego won the first two games of this three-game set, including a 13-2 wipeout Saturday. The Padres are on a 6-0 spree, but will face a tough chore to make it seven against Greinke. Although the right-hander is only 1-0 through five starts, Greinke has a sterling 1.84 ERA heading into this 4:10 p.m. ET contest.
Most sportsbooks didn’t post a line Saturday night for Astros-Padres, awaiting word on who would start for San Diego.
The White Sox beat the host Cubs on Friday and Saturday, compiling 17 total runs in the process, and go for the sweep at Wrigley Field on Sunday. Despite the White Sox riding a seven-game win streak, Caesars sportsbooks pegged Yu Darvish and the Cubs a -181 favorite and ticked to -179 late Saturday night, with the White Sox at +164. First pitch is at 2:20 p.m. ET.
The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves play the 7:08 p.m. ET nightcap, with the host Braves going for a three-game sweep. Atlanta opened -123 favorite at Caesars and went to -121 late Saturday, with Philadelphia +111.

MLB sharp money
UPDATE 6:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Derek Wilkinson, executive manager of operations at The SuperBook at Westgate, said some profesional money is showing up for Phillies-Braves. "The Braves moneyline has dropped a lot since it opened, due to all the wiseguys liking to fade Josh Tomlin," Wilkinson said, alluding to the Atlanta starter tonight. Atlanta opened -125 and is down to -108, with Philadelphia -102.
UPDATE 4 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Nick Bogdanovich, director of trading at William Hill US, said there's no major action today on MLB. But per usual, the book will be rooting for the 'dogs, including the Padres in the upcoming tilt against the Astros. Likewise, the Rockies will be a need, as the Dodgers have zipped from -220 to -250.
UPDATE NOON ET SUNDAY: PointsBet USA's Patrick Eichner said the White Sox saw some sharp action at +160, and the Cubs landed some runline sharp play at -1.5 (even money). The Phillies also drew some wiseguy dollars at -110.
MLB public betting
UPDATE 6:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: "Moneyline action on Phillies-Braves is pretty even, but we have a few decent wagers on Phillies runline +1.5," The SuperBook's Wilkinson said.
UPDATE NOON ET SUNDAY: Not surprisingly, the public is on the Cubs, who are taking 67 percent of tickets. But it's a little closer to two-way action on the money count, with a 60/40 split in favor of the Cubs. The Astros are landing 64 percent of tickets and 78 percent of dollars bet, and the Braves are drawing 68 percent of tickets and 62 percent of money.

Covers Consensus is a good gauge of where public betting is, and for Saturday’s games, it’s with the Dodgers. Los Angeles was landing 74 percent of early picks against the Colorado Rockies. Meanwhile, the Braves were taking 60 percent of early Covers Consensus picks against the Phillies.
