Travelers Championship 2020 Round 3 picks and predictions

Rory McIlroy had a more mortal round Friday at the Travelers Championship, but he's just four strokes off the lead and is giving us some betting value heading into Moving Day.

Golf betting sure was fun in the second round of the Travelers Championship. Rory Mcilory is still the favorite, but there’s a familiar face with him at the top of the betting board.

Phil Mickelson, who just turned 50, leads the tournament after a 7-under 63. Lefty and Rory are now the co-favorites at +500.

But heads up! Round 3 at TPC River Highlands has been moved up to 7:15 a.m. ET due to incoming weather. So, get your PGA golf bets in early as we give our picks, predictions and best bets for the Travelers Championship Round 3 odds.

Travelers Championship Round 3 picks and predictions

Emiliano Grillo over Mark Hubbard & Kyle Stanley Round 3 3-ball (+188)

A bonus from the weather moving up Round 3 is that we get another day of 3-ball group betting and Grillo is in a nice spot here. The Argentinian seems to have re-found his form after missing the cut each of the past two weeks. His ball-striking has been excellent in the first two rounds of the tournament and ranks 14th on tour in strokes gained: approach. Simply put, he’s the best ball-striker of this bunch and this is good value on him.

Marc Leishman over Kevin Streelman & Brendon Todd Round 3 3-Ball (+125)

I told you that wasn’t going to be the last play on Leishman this weekend. He cashed our matchup prop in Round 2 with relative ease and is setting himself up nicely for the weekend. As mentioned yesterday, he’s second on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: approach, as well as being the 2012 Travelers champion. And that experience has seemed to pay off for Leishman on the back nine, where he has recorded eight birdies and no bogeys. Once again he is the class of this group when it comes to ball-striking and while Streelman and Todd are having solid tournaments, they aren't on the same level as Leishman right now.

Rory McIlroy over Xander Schauffele & Brendan Steele Round 3 3-Ball (+100)

Right off the bat, I love getting even money on Rory to win any golf matchup for one round. Friday, he shot a disappointing 2-under 68, but if not for a few little mistakes, that number could have been lower. He’s still destroying the golf ball and is in a class of his own when it comes to strokes gained: tee-to-green. In this matchup, Schauffele also shot a 68, while Steele had one of the rounds of the day, putting up an 8-under 62, which will be hard to match. So, it’s easy to like Rory here. Additionally, we took him to win yesterday at +400. He’s +500 now. Jump on that now if you think he can overtake everyone on the weekend. I do.

Find the balance between the numbers and what you see on the playing field. Then find the best price using multiple books. And don’t ask him where the nickname Taco comes from. It's not an interesting story. Seriously.<
