⚾ UC San Diego vs Cincinnati Cincinnati

Pick: UC San Diego (+270 at DraftKings)

UC San Diego is better than its 4-9 record, because that result can happen when you play nine of your first 13 games against teams currently ranked within the Top 12 of RPI.

The Tritons have shown flashes — an 8-7 win over UCLA, a 7-3 win over Louisiana — and took three of four from Cincinnati a year ago. This team is no pushover and will have rested arms after an off day on Saturday.

Cincinnati has roared out to an 11-4 start and dominated the Friday doubleheader by a combined score of 25-6, but that’s led to an inflated price. This team has proven beatable, falling to Austin Peay, Jacksonville State, and UAB (twice).

Louisiana Louisiana vs ⚾ Dallas Baptist

Pick: Dallas Baptist (-130 at DraftKings)

Louisiana is on a roll, winning 11 of its last 12 games to move up to No. 8 in RPI. Kudos to the Ragin’ Cajuns, but there’s a reason that Dallas Baptist is favored here despite the streaking opponent.

There was a rain delay on Saturday, which benefits the home team in a quick-turnaround spot, and the Patriots will have First Team All-Conference USA senior starter Ryan Borberg on the bump.

He led the conference in wins and WHIP as a junior and should provide a much-needed steady hand after DBU pitchers combined for a whopping 16 free passes on Saturday.

DBU ranks 18th in wRC+ (141), so offense isn’t a problem. For reference, Louisiana checks in at 217th with an 82 wRC+.

East Carolina East Carolina vs Coastal Carolina Coastal Carolina

Pick: East Carolina (+130 at DraftKings)

Coastal Carolina took the first two games of the series, but the margins have been razor-thin. The Chants hit a walk-off 10th-inning grand slam on Friday, and Saturday’s game was a 1-1 pitcher’s duel in the eighth inning before they ran away with a 7-1 victory.

ECU’s Sunday starter, 6-foot-7 freshman Colby Weber, has already been battle-tested against Xavier and North Carolina. He sits in the mid-90s with his fastball and gives the Pirates a good chance against a Coastal offense that hasn’t gotten going this season (95 wRC+).

The Chants are without their top two starting pitchers, so Sunday — when the depth starts showing — is a good spot to take a game from them.

Louisiana Tech Louisiana Tech vs South Alabama South Alabama

Pick: South Alabama (+100 at DraftKings)

I like this Louisiana Tech team. The lineup is full of hitters who battle, making life difficult for opposing pitchers.

The Bulldogs carry a 120 wRC+ and should win plenty of ballgames despite recently having a six-game losing streak snapped on Saturday against South Alabama.

That was more so due to a difficult schedule, including three games against world-wrecking No. 10 Southern Miss.

The Jaguars may be 11-4, but that’s what happens when you play a soft nonconference schedule. They finished 23-28 a year ago and therefore aren’t a very quality team unless they vastly improved.

San Diego San Diego vs Cal California

Pick: San Diego (+270 at DraftKings)

Another hefty price tag on a quality college baseball team from San Diego? Sign me up.

Cal has been all the rage so far, accumulating a 12-3 record including the first three games of this series, which the Bears won by a combined score of 35-11.

This wasn’t expected from a team that lost several of its top players in the transfer portal, so the good vibes may not stick around forever.

The Toreros won 19 conference games in 2025 and are better than they’ve shown, so the bounce back will happen sooner or later.
