A go-ahead field goal at the buzzer lifted the BC Lions to a big win in Montreal last weekend, and they're set to make it two straight against the Edmonton Elks.

Having already seen their offense cook Edmonton in Week 1, my Lions vs. Elks predictions expect Nathan Rourke & Co. to keep the chains moving at Commonwealth Stadium.

Here are my CFL picks for Sunday, July 13, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. ET on TSN.

Lions vs Elks prediction

My Lions vs Elks pick: Lions -2.5 (-120 at BET99)

There's no denying that the Buck Pierce era has gotten off to a rocky start, but the BC Lions should be able to build on the momentum from last week’s win over Montreal.

Nathan Rourke made his presence known after missing two games with an oblique injury, passing for 352 yards and a touchdown, committing just one turnover.

Rourke has also been effective on the ground in all three of his starts this season, clearing 40+ rushing yards each time and adding another element to an offense that looked stagnant with backup Jeremiah Masoli under center.

Now set to face an Edmonton Elks defense that Rourke & Co. tore up for 31 points in Week 1, BC's offense should be firing on all cylinders.

Edmonton is giving up a league-worst 7.65 yards per play and allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete 77.6% of their passes. Just last week, the Ottawa Redblacks piled up 405 yards of net offense against them.

Although the Elks offense helped spearhead a 39-33 win over the Redblacks in that game, it marked their first victory of the season and the first time they hadn’t lost by double digits all year.

BC closed as a 4.5-point home favorite in Week 1 and easily covered with a 31-14 win. At -2.5, I’m backing the Lions once again.

Lions vs Elks same-game parlay (SGP)

Lions -2.5

Over 52.5

BC is 7-2 ATS over its last nine games against Edmonton, and I project this spread closer to -4.5.

Meanwhile, the Elks are 3-1 to the Over this season. With a negative game script brewing, their offense will see plenty of garbage-time opportunities to help eclipse the total.
