A matchup that seems slanted at first will be closer than anticipated, and the Tiger-Cats are even primed for an upset against the Elks.

The Edmonton Elks head east to visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday, Oct. 9. Both teams are coming off wins, but each one is in a vastly different position with the playoffs rapidly approaching as I make my Elks vs. Tiger-Cats predictions.

With Edmonton potentially one win away from home-field advantage in the Western Final and being the second-favorite for the Grey Cup in the CFL odds, it's time to look at my CFL picks for this pivotal game at Hamilton Stadium.

Who will win Elks vs Tiger-Cats: Tiger-Cats (+225)

I'm boldly backing the underdog here.

This matchup is much closer on paper than the Edmonton Elks' 11-4 record versus the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' 5-11 suggests. Hamilton has won two of the last three meetings, with the lone loss being a 37-35 overtime heartbreaker two weeks ago.

The most glaring sign pointing to a potential upset is the Elks' disparity between home and away games. They're 7-1 in Edmonton compared to just 4-3 on the road. They've also lost two of their last three road contests.

Similarly, Hamilton's .375 win percentage at home is notably higher than its .250 mark on the road.

At +225, this play is absolutely worth a flier. The spread has moved from 5.5 to 6.5 since Monday, so I'd recommend that at -112 for a safer play if desired.

Elks vs Tiger-Cats total prediction: Under 61.5 (-112)

The Elks have allowed the fewest points and passing yards in the league, ranking second in total yards allowed and third in rushing yards allowed.

Both of these teams are 5-5-0 O/U in the last 10 outings, and the Elks' offense has been wildly inconsistent over the last month and a half. The unit topped out at 53 points against a dreadful Calgary Stampeders defense last month, but then put up just 19 against the Toronto Argonauts two games ago.

The Under has cashed during two of the last three meetings between the Elks and Tiger-Cats. Additionally, seven of Hamilton's last 10 games have failed to clear this total.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Elks (7-8-0) and the Tiger-Cats (8-8-0) have posted a combined 15-16-0 O/U record in 2026, equating to a .483 Over %. Edmonton ranks top three in every defensive metric this season.

Elks vs Tiger-Cats same-game parlay

While I still love the Tiger-Cats moneyline play given its plus-money value, taking the spread alongside the Under is much safer.

The Elks have only covered a spread of this size against the Tiger-Cats once in their last five meetings, dating back to 2023. Hamilton is hosting this time, and the Tiger-Cats have been a much better team at home, while Edmonton is performing significantly worse on the road.

These teams rank first and second in passing yards allowed per game, and second and third in total yards allowed per contest.
