Elks vs Tiger-Cats Prediction, Picks & Odds for CFL Week 16

The Elks have looked much better of late compared to the start of the 2025 season, and part of that has been the play of QB Cody Fajardo. Hamilton has looked shaky against West teams, and Edmonton will cover tonight's spread.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Edmonton Elks in a pivotal matchup on Saturday, September 20.

Edmonton is just a game behind the Blue Bombers for a crossover berth in the playoffs, and with how competitive the West Division has been, my Elks vs. Tiger-Cats predictions are backing the visitors.

Here are my best free CFL picks for tonight's Week 16 clash.

Elks vs Tiger-Cats prediction

My Elks vs Tiger-Cats pick: Elks +5.5 (-115 at BET99)

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats sit atop the East Division standings with an 8-5 record. That said, they've looked mediocre when playing Western Conference teams, going 3-4 straight up and against the spread.

The Ticats edged the Edmonton Elks 28-24 by scoring a touchdown in the final two minutes when these teams previously clashed in Week 9. Since then, the Elks have gone 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS.

Edmonton's offense has been far more efficient since naming Cody Fajardo its starting quarterback. The former Grey Cup MVP leads the league in pass efficiency (111.3) and has thrown just three interceptions in eight starts.

The Tabbies have shown cracks on defense, with their only strong performances over the last couple of months coming against teams led by backup quarterbacks.

Meanwhile, Edmonton's defense has made major strides after looking historically bad to start the year. Through Week 7, the Elks were last in the CFL in points per game allowed (34.0) and yards per play allowed  (7.65).

Since then, they've limited foes to 23.6 PPG on 6.08 yards per play. They'll slow down Bo Levi Mitchell and the Ticats offense enough to cover this spread.

Elks vs Tiger-Cats same-game parlay (SGP)

Alt Spread Elks +7.5

Under 56.5

Let's make extra sure that the Elks cover in this SGP by pushing the spread past that key number of 7.

The Elks had cashed the Under in eight straight games before last week's 31-30 loss to Toronto. Since the Argos were a clear Over team due to Nick Arbuckle and the league's worst defense, I expect the Elks to go back to hitting the Under this week.

After all, Edmonton's defense has stepped up while the offense has been relying on longer drives to control the clock and keep their opponents off the field.
