Trevor Knapp breaks down why Edmonton will cover on Friday night, earning a win that would end a decade-long drought without hosting the Western Final.

Week 20 action sees the 12-4 Edmonton Elks host the 8-8 Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night at Commonwealth Stadium.

With Edmonton looking to host the West Final for the first time since 2015, my Blue Bombers vs. Edmonton Elks predictions expect the home team to treat Friday night like a playoff game and cover as 3.5-point favorites.

Read more in my CFL picks for Oct. 16, with kickoff set for 9:30 p.m. ET on TSN.

Who will win Blue Bombers vs Elks: Elks -3.5 (-110)

The Edmonton Elks' defence has propelled the team from the West Division basement to the top of the standings following a remarkable 2026 resurgence, culminating in a 12-4 record heading into Friday night's matchup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Edmonton is surrendering just 24.8 points per game, the fewest in the CFL, while holding opposing quarterbacks to a 64.1% completion rate and an 85.7 passer rating.

Facing a Bombers offence that ranks dead last in touchdown drive percentage (17%) and has both star running back Brady Oliveira and slotback Nic Demski listed as questionable, expect the Elks to prevail by more than a field goal.

Edmonton is 7-1 SU at home this season, and I'd play them to -120 at this line.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Edmonton leads the CFL with 24 interceptions, while Winnipeg sits dead last with just seven entering Week 20.

Blue Bombers vs Elks total prediction: Under 55.5 (-108)

The Under has cashed in three consecutive contests between Winnipeg and Edmonton, with the highest total reaching 45 points during that span.

Edmonton’s stop unit ranks first in opponent second-down conversion rate (44.6%) and trails only Toronto in quarterback sacks this season. With Winnipeg’s offence banged up, expect the Bombers to face several second-and-long situations and struggle to push this total Over.

Playable to 54.5.

Blue Bombers vs Elks same-game parlay

Edmonton's ground game will feast on a Bombers defence allowing 5.5 yards per rush. The Elks also boast a +23 turnover differential on the season.

Meanwhile, Winnipeg’s 34% second-down conversion rate is the second-worst in the league, setting the stage for a low-scoring affair.
