The Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Toronto Argonauts in Labour Day Weekend action on Monday afternoon.
The Tiger-cats are atop the East Division, and my Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats predictions expect them to cover as favourites in Week 13.
Here are my best CFL picks for the Battle of the QEW on Monday, September 1.
Argonauts vs Tiger-Cats prediction
My Argonauts vs Tiger-Cats pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats -5.5 (-115 at BET99)
The Toronto Argonauts have a one-dimensional offense that's been heavily reliant on Nick Arbuckle and their passing game. However, the strength of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' defense lies in its secondary, which gets back safety Stavros Katsantonis and CB Jamal Peters after a one-game absence.
The Ticats are also formidable at defensive tackle, where Casey Sayles and Mario Kendricks get a strong push up the middle. They should have their way against an awful Toronto offensive line, which is banged up on the interior.
The Ticats are on a two-game skid, most recently getting throttled by the Roughriders in Week 11. However, they were running on fumes since that was the eighth-straight week they played and the fourth road game (fifth game overall) in 27 days.
They are now fresh off a bye and will look to get back to their winning ways. Despite scoring just nine points in Week 11, Hamilton still leads the league with 30.0 ppg. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has the second-best MOP odds and has the league's best WR corps at his disposal.
That explosive attack will shred an Argos defense that is last in the CFL in ppg allowed (32.2), yards allowed per pass (9.8), and big plays allowed (40).
Argonauts vs Tiger-Cats same-game parlay (SGP)
Despite poor blocking and a non-existent ground game, Toronto is putting up points. Nick Arbuckle has thrown for more than 300 yards in five straight games and is coming off a career-high 443 yards last week.
Toronto is dealing with a couple of key injuries at WR, but it just got back last year's leading receiver, Makai Polk, who the Atlanta Falcons recently cut.
The Argos have eclipsed their team total in eight of their last nine games. The problem is their defense can't stop anybody, and is now facing a well-rested and highly efficient Ticats attack.
Three of Toronto's last four games have seen more than 70 total points on the board, and this matchup looks like another shootout.
