The 112th Grey Cup takes place on Sunday in Winnipeg, with the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders battling for the CFL crown.

This should be a great game between two teams that have been atop the futures board for most of the year, and my Alouettes vs. Roughriders predictions are betting on Montreal as an underdog.

Here are my best free CFL picks for the Grey Cup on November 16.

Alouettes vs Roughriders prediction

My Alouettes vs Roughriders pick: Alouettes +3.5 (-120 at BET99)

The Grey Cup odds opened with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as slim 1.5-point favorites. Money has come in on them, shifting the line to -3.5. With the spread moving past that key number of 3, I can't turn down the points on the Montreal Alouettes

Although the Riders have been the best team in the CFL this year, the Als have looked just as impressive when healthy.

Montreal's offense struggled midseason due to a slew of injuries — none more damaging than the absence of star quarterback Davis Alexander. With Alexander, LT Nick Callender, and the receiver corps now healthy, along with the emergence of RB Stevie Scott, Montreal has been on fire.

The Als are 7-1 in their last eight games, boasting a win margin of +8.8 points per game. Their only loss during that span came in the meaningless regular-season finale, where they rested key starters.

Another reason I'm fading Saskatchewan as a short favourite is that I don't trust kicker Brett Lauther. The veteran finished with a league-low 72.2% field goal percentage during the regular season and missed kicks at crucial times.

Parity has been a theme in the CFL this year, which has resulted in lots of razor-close games. That includes the West Division Final, where the Riders marched 76 yards down the field to score the game-winning touchdown in the final minute.

Expect another tight contest in the Grey Cup, which puts the value on the underdog Alouettes.

Alouettes vs Roughriders same-game parlay (SGP)

Alouettes +3.5

Under 49.5

Tyler Snead Over 55.5 receiving yards

Both teams played in lower-scoring games in the Division Finals, even though they faced Lions and Ticats defenses that were weaker than what awaits them on Sunday.

Saskatchewan allowed the fewest ppg (22.7) during the regular season, with Montreal surrendering the fewest yards per play (6.02). The Als also conceded a league-low 37 big plays, while the Riders were right behind them with 38. These stop units were also second and third, respectively, in sacks.

In addition, temperatures will be below zero in Winnipeg on Sunday, which will result in shorter throws and more running by both sides.

Saskatchewan's defensive backs do a great job of limiting downfield plays, which should lead to Montreal relying on Tyler Snead in the slot.

The sure-handed receiver led Montreal in targets (117), receptions (84), and receiving yards (1129) during the regular season. Snead has eclipsed 55.5 receiving yards in eight of his last 13 games, and he'll be Alexander's most reliable target when the Als need a first down.
