The Montreal Alouettes have made quick work of their first two opponents, cruising to double-digit wins over both Toronto and Ottawa.

With a matchup against the Edmonton Elks kicking off Week 3, my Alouettes vs. Elks predictions break down why another dominant Montreal win is in the cards.

Find out more in my CFL picks for Thursday, June 19, with kickoff set for 9:00 p.m. ET from Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.

Alouettes vs Elks prediction

My Alouettes vs Elks pick: Alouettes -6.5 (-110 at BET99)

The Grey Cup odds have already been flipped on their head, with the 2-0 Montreal Alouettes storming out to become +335 favorites following emphatic wins over the Argonauts and Redblacks.

Jason Maas' offense hasn't missed a beat since the Alouettes made the offseason decision to move off veteran quarterback Cody Fajardo and roll with Davis Alexander as the long-term starter. Through two games, Alexander leads all starters in completion percentage (72.4%), averaging an impressive 9.5 yards per completion — trailing only Vernon Adams Jr.

Meanwhile, the defense has picked up right where it left off in 2024, allowing a league-low 255.0 yards of offense per game. The Als' stop unit is holding opposing quarterbacks to a 66.7 passer rating and leads the league with five interceptions.

Although the Edmonton Elks are coming off a bye, the Elks may need more than a week off to figure out their sputtering ways on both sides of the ball. In Mark Kilam's first game as head coach, he saw his team generate only 248 yards of net offence, converting on second downs just 42.1% of the time.

Defensively, Edmonton fell apart in the second half against BC, allowing the Lions to score four touchdowns in a 31-14 defeat.

Montreal has already covered the spread twice in its first two games, and I expect the Als to make it three in a row on Thursday.

Alouettes vs Elks same-game parlay (SGP)

Alouettes -6.5

Elks team total Under 20.5

CFL games this season have seen an average margin of victory of 12.8 points so far, and I’m more than comfortable laying -6.5 with a Montreal team boasting a +39 point differential.

The Argonauts and Redblacks each failed to eclipse 20.5 points in their matchups against Montreal, while Edmonton also came up short in both losses to the Als last season.
