Preview: Alabama A&M at Auburn

When: 7:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 19, 2016
Where: Jordan Hare Stadium, Auburn, Alabama

After seeing its six-game losing streak snapped by Georgia last week, No. 15 Auburn must rebound quickly when it hosts non-conference foe Alabama A&M on Saturday night. The Tigers can't be blamed for looking ahead to next weekend's matchup with in-state rival Alabama, but coach Gus Malzahn's squad will likely be focused on getting back into the win column in a big way.

Auburn will need a better offensive effort than it had against the Bulldogs, when the team managed just one touchdown and 164 total yards of offense. The Tigers will be without the SEC's leading rusher Kamryn Pettway, who missed the Georgia game with a leg injury, which could stifle the team's rushing attack. Malzahn is also unsure about quarterback Sean White, who aggravated his injured right throwing shoulder in the loss to the Bulldogs. Alabama A&M has won three of four after starting the season 1-5, though the one loss saw it give up 56 points to Grambling State.

ABOUT ALABAMA A&M (4-6, 4-5 SWAC): Alabama A&M may be coming off its most rousing win of the season, rallying from a 17-0 first-half deficit to hold a seven-point lead in the closing minute against Jackson State. A fumble by the TIgers into the end zone was recovered by Dylan Hamilton, giving the Bulldogs the narrow victory in which they racked up 433 total yards of offense. Alabama A&M will need to have a running attack like it had against Jackson State, when the team rushed for 290 yards and held the ball for 34:57, to have a chance to slow down Auburn this week.

ABOUT AUBURN (7-3, 5-2 SEC): The Tigers' coaching staff had no idea White had aggravated his shoulder injury against Georgia because he didn't tell them it happened and no one noticed him favoring the arm in the third quarter. They know now though, and White could likely sit out against Alabama A&M to get himself ready for the Iron Bowl a week later. That means either John Franklin III or Jeremy Johnson would start in White's place, with Franklin the likely replacement with 94 passing yards and 319 rushing yards this season.

1. Auburn has held nine of its last 11 opponents to fewer than 20 points.

2. Tigers WR Tony Stevens has 25 catches this season, with 21 of them going for either a first down or a touchdown.

3. Auburn has held seven consecutive opponents without a rushing touchdown for the first time since 2004.

PREDICTION: Auburn 55, Alabama A&M 6
