Preview: South Florida at Southern Methodist

When: 7:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 19, 2016
Where: Gerald J. Ford Stadium, Dallas, Texas

More school records will likely fall when South Florida's explosive offense visits SMU on Saturday. The Bulls - tied with Temple atop the American Athletic Conference's East Division - have three offensive leaders nearing school marks.

Quarterback Quinton Flowers - the first FBS player from a Florida college to record 2,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing in the same season - needs 208 yards to break the Bulls' single-season total offense record. Running back Marlon Mack (147 yards to break career all-purpose record) and receiver Rodney Adams (two touchdowns to break career receiving TDs record) are approaching USF career records. The Bulls' offense that has scored at least 30 points in 14 straight games will be a test for a SMU defense that allows 32.5 points but has forced 23 turnovers, including 17 interceptions. The Mustangs need to beat one of the AAC division leaders - USF or Navy next week - to become bowl eligible for the first time in four years.

ABOUT SOUTH FLORIDA (8-2, 5-1 AAC): Flowers (2,204 passing yards, 19 TDs, five INTs, 1,131 rushing yards) tied the school record for single-season rushing touchdowns with his 13th. Flowers broke his own AAC record for rushing yards for a quarterback (210 yards) last week as the Bulls broke a school record with 416 rushing yards against Memphis. Mack (853 rushing yards and the school's all-time rusher at 3,275) sits one TD behind Flowers with 12 rushing scores this season.

ABOUT SMU (5-5, 3-3): Redshirt freshman Ben Hicks has thrown for 2,219 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions but is interception-free in four of his past five games. Braeden West (868 yards, six TDs) has rushed for at least 100 yards in four of his past five games. The Mustangs scored 28 points off five turnovers last week, including a pair of interception returns by Horace Richardson - who has six interceptions.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Mack needs 57 yards to pass Miami's Ottis Anderson (3,331 yards) for 10th place on the list of Florida's career Division I rushing leaders. Central Florida's Kevin Smith (2005-07) tops the list at 4,679.

2. The Bulls' 37 rushing TDs - tied for most in FBS - are four more than SMU's total TDs (33: 12 rushing, 17 passing, 4 INT return).

3. SMU WR Courtland Sutton, who leads the team with 57 catches, 934 yards and seven TDs, was held to three receptions last year against USF.

PREDICTION: South Florida 42, SMU 31
