What makes Sky an expert?

Experience

Sky’s expertise comes from the overlap between content, communication, iGaming, and athletic operations. He began his content career in 2014 as a Staff Copywriter with Canada Basketball, writing national team game reports, statistical briefs, and executive interview scripts while also supporting high-performance operations.

Since then, Sky has built content for sports organizations, iGaming operators, and media brands, with work spanning sports betting, casino, prediction markets, SEO, editorial QA, platform reviews, campaign copy, sports media, and athletic operations.

That background shapes the way he edits prediction market content. Sky focuses on clear explanations, transparent terms, responsible context, useful comparisons, and content that reflects how sports fans and bettors research, think, and make decisions.

Q&A with Sky Smith

Where does your love of sports come from?

My love of sports comes from family, especially my dad, who played 11 seasons in the CFL and won Grey Cups with the Montreal Alouettes. Sports were always part of the conversation growing up, and basketball became the game that shaped most of my own personal and professional life.

Did you play sports growing up?

Yes. Basketball was the foundation of my early athletic life, but I also played football, cross country, volleyball, softball, and just about anything competitive. I played three years of high school football as a defensive halfback and won a City of Toronto TSSAA Football Championship with Malvern Collegiate Institute. Sports and fitness have always been part of my life. I have run half marathons and triathlons, played softball with the same core group since 2005, and still play indoor and beach volleyball, dodgeball, and other recreational sports whenever I can. That mindset also carried into my professional life through coaching, athletic training, team management, and personal management work with professional athletes.

What do you look for in a prediction market?

Trust, clarity, and usability. I look for clear terms, strong navigation, responsible gambling tools, useful market information, fair pricing, smooth payments, and a product experience that helps users make informed decisions. For prediction markets, I also want the platform to clearly explain the contract, pricing, rules, fees, and settlement conditions.

What's your best advice for prediction market traders?

Do not trade emotionally. Understand what you are trading on, compare prices when possible, manage your bankroll carefully, read the terms, and treat predictions as risk-based entertainment rather than guaranteed income.

Sky's top Covers tip

Start with education before comparison. If you are new to prediction markets, understand the basic language, structure, risks, and differences from traditional sportsbooks before reading platform reviews or offer pages.

Sky's memories

🚀 Big Win

Sky’s favourite betting memory is hitting a five-fight parlay when Sean Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 while making a scene as the only person cheering in a Boston Pizza.

😭 Bad Beat?

Sky has twice missed a 13-fight UFC parlay by one fight, a reminder that even confident picks can come down to one result.
