While Germany enters the group stage as the heavy favorite in the World Cup odds to claim the top spot under Julian Nagelsmann, they carry a significant point to prove after crashing out in the group stage during the last two World Cup editions.

Germany vs Curacao

Germany wins this game, but the odds aren’t worth betting on. Instead, we’re backing Curacao to outperform expectations against a German team, who don’t have the confidence of the German public at home.
The standard in Concacaf might be one of the worst qualification pools, but Curacao gave up just five goals in 10 qualifying games. They’ve got this far off the back of a tight defense, and with Tahith Chong, they have a player who offers real speed, which will allow them to spring at Germany on the counterattack.
That won’t be enough to win, but it might help them get a single goal, or at least stop Germany from overcommitting forward.

Ivory Coast vs Ecuador
7 p.m., FOX
The +257 price on the Ivory Coast may make you believe they are no-hopers. Yet they are anything but and have the quality to pick up a point.
The Elephants are on a run of seven wins from their last nine games (W7-D1-L1) and will have drawn enormous confidence from the impressive second-half performance that saw them secure a 2-1 victory (away) vs highly-fancied France on the eve of the tournament.
The form figures show Ecuador is a tough side to overcome, as they are on an undefeated run dating back to September 2024. Yet the stand-out stat is their high draw rate: they have tied 11 of the 19 games they have played since their last loss.
