Brazil vs Morocco prediction

6:00 p.m. ET, FOX

Brazil have a lot of great attackers but they don’t feel like a cohesive team just yet, with likely striker Thiago only getting his first Brazil call-up in March. That lack of playing time in forward positions is likely to be on show here, especially with the central midfield duo of Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes lacking real creativity.

This Brazil team saw Under 2.5 goals land in 11 of their 18 World Cup qualifiers, which speaks to both their lack of a world-class striker and an un-Brazilian style of play, which is evidenced by the importance of Casemiro sitting in front of the back four.

The Moroccan side has huge experience with Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui, adding real know-how. They won the African Cup of Nations back in January on the back of a defense-first strategy, which saw them try to choke out their opposition, keeping the score low with a high press. Just one of their seven games in that competition had Over 2.5 goals.

Scotland vs Haiti prediction

9 p.m. ET, FOX

For both teams, the attacks are better than the defenses. The stats bear this out: six of Scotland’s last eight fixtures have had 3+ goals, for a high average of 3.63 goals per game.

Over 2.5 has landed in eight of Haiti’s 15 fixtures since June last year. The 4-4-2 formation they're expected to use encourages fast, vertical, attacking play and can leave their defense exposed at the other end of the field.

All four pre-tournament friendlies involving Haiti and Scotland had 3+ goals (an average of 4.0 goals per game). Anybody watching those fixtures would have noted defensive flaws across both line-ups, with little time to correct them before this tournament opener.

This is the most winnable group game for both teams, so an open encounter - where the focus will be on winning, rather than merely avoiding defeat - is likely. With a pick ‘em 2.5 line, Overs is the strong selection.
