The WNBA is back in action after the Independence Day break, with the nightcap featuring the Minnesota Lynx playing host to the Golden State Valkyries.

Although Golden State sits atop the Western Conference at 15-2, Minnesota is poised to bounce back with an impressive effort on its home floor.

Read more in my Valkyries vs. Lynx predictions and WNBA picks for Saturday, July 5.

Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET from Target Center in Minneapolis, with the game airing on KMAX 31 and FDSN North.

Valkyries vs Lynx predictions

My Valkyries vs Lynx best bet: Lynx -9.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

The Minnesota Lynx are fresh off a loss to the Indiana Fever in the Commissioner's Cup and will look to bounce back in a big way. The championship game doesn’t count toward Minnesota’s regular-season record, so the favorites remain undefeated at home.

The Lynx have won straight up and covered in six straight home games. They’re in a great position to build on their previous success against the Golden State Valkyries.

Minnesota secured an 11-point road victory as a 14.5-point favorite in early June and oddsmakers believe Golden State can make the contest closer in round two. However, the Valkyries have been an up-and-down team against the spread on the road this season.

Golden State is 3-3 against the spread on the road while Minnesota has covered in eight of its previous 10 games.

Valkyries vs Lynx same-game parlay (SGP)

Lynx -9.5

Napheesa Collier Over 20.5 points

Kayla McBride Over 2.5 threes

Napheesa Collier remains the league’s top scorer and can build on the 28 points she posted against the Washington Mystics her last time out.

Kayla McBride is shooting the long ball a career-high 6.7 times per game and is converting those attempts at a 41.4% rate.

She’s off to a slow start in July, but scored 16 points in her last matchup against the Valkyries and could be pushed to be more aggressive against the opposition’s thriving offense.
