A’ja Wilson’s wrist injury is the latest setback in a disappointing season for the Las Vegas Aces, and the Golden State Valkyries will look to take advantage in this afternoon’s matchup at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Las Vegas is 1-3 so far in July, and my Valkyries vs. Aces predictions signal more magic from a Golden State team that’s fresh off a smothering victory over the Indiana Fever this week.

Take a closer look at this July 12 battle with my free WNBA picks.

Valkyries vs Aces predictions

My Valkyries vs Aces best bet: Veronica Burton Over 19.5 points, rebounds, & assists (-120 FanDuel)

The Golden State Valkyries have exceeded all expectations through the first 19 games of their debut WNBA season, and a playoff spot is increasingly looking like a realistic goal. Across the past two games, no one has done more to put Golden State in contention than Veronica Burton, with the fourth-year guard contributing all over the box score.

Burton has seized the chance to spearhead the offense on this current road trip, and she barely put a foot wrong on Wednesday against the Indiana Fever, finishing with 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists to spoil Caitlin Clark’s return.

I’m banking on another do-it-all outing here against the Las Vegas Aces, with the Over on a generous combo prop O/U line. Burton has sailed past this 19.5 number in four of her last six games, and the route to easy baskets feels a lot clearer this afternoon if A’ja Wilson is ruled out for the Aces.

Burton has found her 3-point stroke this week too, knocking down 11 of her last 18 triples, without taking anything away from her playmaking. She’s averaging six dimes a game across her last six contests.

The first meeting between these teams back in early June showcased the best of Burton, in a 14-7-12 stat line to spark a blowout victory, so don’t be surprised if she outplays the highly-rated Las Vegas backcourt again today.

Veronica Burton Over 19.5 points, rebounds, & assists

Valkyries moneyline

Under 154.5

I’ll take the Golden State moneyline too. The Valkyries’ stingy defense held the Fever to just 61 points in midweek, and the visitors are 5-3 SU in their last eight contests. If Golden State brings its A-game, it’s tough to see the Aces scoring consistently without Wilson dominating the paint.

The Valkyries’ winning formula starts on the defensive end, and both teams have trended towards the Under, which is 8-2 in Las Vegas’ last 10 outings and 12-7 this year for Golden State. It’s a matchup that’s got rock fight written all over it.
