After dropping six in a row and tumbling down the playoff ladder, the Seattle Storm seems to have steadied the ship, winning three of its last four, including a 95-60 trouncing of the Dallas Wings last time out.
That’s two straight games they’ve touched the 94-point plateau, upping their scoring average to 87.8 points in this hot stretch.
That’s notable because Seattle’s offense has been a dud in two losses to the Washington Mystics this year, failing to crack 70 points in either contest.
Washington is reeling, losing back-to-back games to last-place Connecticut before getting dropped 91-81 Saturday against the Las Vegas Aces.
The Mystics are now three games back of Seattle and two back of Golden State for the eighth and final playoff berth.
Despite their struggles, Washington has covered four straight against Seattle, and these teams have had eight of the last nine games decided by nine points or less.
I don’t think Washington has the juice to take this virtual must-win playing the second half of a back-to-back, but past history shows they should be able to stay in range.

Brittney Sykes was acquired from Washington at the trade deadline, but it hasn’t been great yet for her in Seattle.
Sykes has averaged 13.1 points in seven games, and has gone Under the 14.5 line set Sunday in all but one game in her new digs.
Rookie Kiki Iriafen has been a revelation in her first year, with solid averages of 12.8 points and 8.6 rebounds.
She’s got plus odds to pull down a double-double, a feat she’s accomplished in six of her last seven games.
