The Los Angeles Sparks and Indiana Fever will both be without their leading stars when they face off at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

While both teams are missing key pieces, Indiana has more alternatives to lean on, which is why I’m taking it to cover in my Sparks vs. Fever predictions.

Let’s break down tonight’s game and see my free WNBA picks for Saturday, June 27.

Sparks vs Fever prediction

Sparks vs Fever best bet: Fever -6.5 (-120 at bet365)

It’s easy to fade the Indiana Fever without Caitlin Clark, but the Los Angeles Sparks are losing just as much production with Kelsey Plum on the bench.

Plum leads the Sparks with a usage rate of 26.7%, and scores 30.6% of her team’s points when she’s on the floor.

The Fever still have leading scorer Kelsey Mitchell and imposing center Aliyah Boston to power its offense.

Los Angeles is second-worst in the league in defensive rating (113.6) and doesn’t have the weapons to keep up with Indiana without Plum.

I’m taking the Fever to cover at -7.5 points or less.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Sparks allow an effective field goal percentage of 54.5%, the worst mark in the league, while the Fever are fourth in the WNBA with a 53.9% effective field goal rate.

Sparks vs Fever same-game parlay

Fever -6.5

Under 179.5

Kelsey Mitchell Over 2.5 made threes

There’s no ignoring the fact that both teams are missing key offensive weapons tonight. With both Clark and Plum on the bench with injuries, that’s a combined 45.1 ppg of offense out of the game from two of the WNBA’s most successful stars.

Yet the total is still at nearly 180 points. These teams have already played one game this year that ended at 165 points, so I’m backing the Under.

Kelsey Mitchell is one of the best offensive weapons remaining on the court, and hits multiple threes in almost every game she plays.

With Clark out of the lineup, Mitchell will take on even more offensive responsibility for the Fever tonight, and I’m taking her threes prop to round out my SGP.

Sparks vs Fever SGP

  • Fever -6.5
  • Under 179.5
  • Kesley Mitchell Over 2.5 made threes

Sparks vs Fever player prop pick

Kelsey Mitchell Over 23.5 points (-110 at bet365)

Even when Clark is on the court, Mitchell is the co-primary scorer for the Fever, leading Indiana at 21.4 ppg this season. She’s coming off a game in which she scored 3 points against the Phoenix Mercury, and has averaged 24.4 ppg over her last five contests.

We can expect that production to go up with Clark on the bench. We should also expect Mitchell to do work against a Sparks team that gives up a league-worst 93.3 ppg – especially with the Fever playing at the fastest pace in the WNBA.

I’m backing Mitchell to hit her scoring Over as she takes a clear leading role for Indiana tonight.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
