The 2-4 Los Angeles Sparks travel to the desert to face the 2-2 Las Vegas Aces on Friday night. Both teams have gotten off to slow starts to begin the 2025 campaign, and they’ll look to get back on track in tonight’s clash.
Star guard Kelsey Plum will face her former team for the first time since being traded to L.A. in the offseason, and my Sparks vs. Aces predictions expect her to be at her very best on offense in what could be an emotional homecoming.

My Sparks vs Aces best bet: Kelsey Plum Over 23.5 points (-115 via bet365)
Kelsey Plum has gotten off to a phenomenal start with her new team, and she ranks second in the Association in scoring through the first six games of the 2025 campaign. Only Napheesa Collier has averaged more points per game this season than Plum, who’s dropping 25.2 per night.
Plum has some help in the scoring department from Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens, but she’s Los Angeles’ clear go-to option on offense. The veteran guard is averaging career highs in minutes (37.3), field goal attempts (18) and three-point attempts (8.8).
She’s knocking down a career-best 3.8 triples per contest while shooting a blistering 43.4% from beyond the arc.
Through six games, Plum has scored 24 or more points four times. That includes 37 and 25 points in two road contests.
Tonight’s matchup with the Las Vegas Aces offers some extra motivation for Plum, who spent the first seven years of her career with the franchise that drafted her No. 1 overall in 2017. Plum played her rookie season with the San Antonio Stars before the franchise moved to Las Vegas, and over the last six years in the desert, she racked up plenty of accolades, including two WNBA championships.
Plum was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in the offseason, and she’ll surely be hungry to show out against her former team in her first trip back to Michelob ULTRA Arena in another uniform.
The Aces haven’t been quite as impressive on defense to start the 2025 campaign as they have been in former seasons. The Aces have allowed the second-highest FG% to opponents at 46.2, and the Aces rank ninth in defensive rating at 101.9.
I expect Plum to continue doing the heavy lifting for her team on offense in her return to Las Vegas.

The Sparks rank fifth in offensive rating at 103.2, and the Aces rank seventh at 100.9. Neither team has been particularly effective at stopping opposing scorers. The Aces have allowed the fourth-most points per game at 82, and the Sparks have allowed the third-most at 82.2. Las Vegas has hit the Over twice in four matchups this season, and Los Angeles has gone Over in three of its last four.
Los Angeles has covered in five straight games against Las Vegas, and I expect that streak to extend to six tonight. The Sparks have dropped four games, but only one of them was a double-digit loss, and that came at the hands of the title-favorite Minnesota Lynx. The Aces blew out the rebuilding Connecticut Sun, but it took a heroic fourth-quarter comeback to narrowly beat the feisty Washington Mystics at home.
Los Angeles sports a 0.7 net rating, while Las Vegas sports a -1. The Aces have come out slow, and while the Sparks have lost four of six, they’ve played some competitive ball games. I’ll take the Sparks to cover this comically-large spread on the road.
