WNBA Player Props & Best Bets Today for August 30: Williams Cashing In Beyond the Arc

The Minnesota Lynx can’t afford to overlook the Connecticut Sun, and they'll need a strong performance from Courtney Williams, who leads the way in tonight’s WNBA player prop picks.

With less than two weeks of the WNBA regular season to go, it’s no exaggeration to say that every game now has an oversized impact on the playoff picture – and the Saturday slate is no exception.

Though the Minnesota Lynx are safe in top spot, today’s action features four other teams looking to improve their postseason positioning, headlined by the New York Liberty’s visit to the Phoenix Mercury.

I’ve sifted through the WNBA picks for the August 30 action – read on for my Top 3 picks.

WNBA player prop bets for August 30

  • Lynx Williams Over 1.5 3-pointers (+140)
  • Valkyries Burton Over 6.5 assists (+100)
  • Storm Ogwumike Over 17.5 points (-105)

Courtney Williams Over 1.5 3-pointers

(+140 at FanDuel)

Courtney Williams has had some hot-and-cold stretches for the league-leading Minnesota Lynx this year, but her 13.9 PPG average is her highest since 2021 and her three-point mark sits at 39%, up from 33% last season.

I see Williams doing more damage from downtown in today’s clash with the Connecticut Sun, and this is a nice price for the Over on 1.5 triples. Williams is 5-for-9 from beyond the arc across her last two outings, and she knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in Minnesota’s blowout win against Connecticut in June.

The Lynx probably won’t need to hit top gear to see off the Sun here, but don’t count on a blowout. Connecticut is 4-1 in its past five contests, so the likes of Williams, Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride should get enough minutes to reach their usual numbers.

Though Williams will never be a high-volume three-point gunner, she’s attempting a career-high 3.6 triples per game this year, and I expect her to make those looks count tonight.

Veronica Burton Over 6.5 assists

(+100 at DraftKings)

The Golden State Valkyries haven’t played since last weekend, but I see Veronica Burton picking up where she left off after piling up 13 assists against the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

Burton has been a revelation for a Valkyries team that’s clinging to the final playoff spot, and the Over on 6.5 dimes feels well within reach for the relentless guard, who’s done as much as anyone to spark a postseason push.

She’s nailed this Over in five of her last seven contests, including 14 assists against the Phoenix Mercury last week, and now she gets to face the Washington Mystics, who’ve allowed 84+ points in three straight games.

Plus, the Mystics have had no answer for Burton in this year’s matchups – all Golden State wins. The Valkyries playmaker has racked up a combined 17 assists in the last two meetings, and I’m wagering on similar production here, with Burton likely to be initiating the offense whenever she’s on the court.

Nneka Ogwumike Over 17.5 points

(-105 at bet365)

The Seattle Storm started August with six straight losses, but the potential for a disastrous slide out of the playoff spots has snapped this veteran squad back into better form. Seattle is 4-1 in its last five games, and Nneka Ogwumike seems to have taken it upon herself to lead the way.

Ogwumike is averaging 18.2 PPG this year, and she’s gone past the 20-point mark six times this month, including 30 points in last weekend’s victory over the Washington Mystics.

She’s shot at least 50% from the field in five of her past six games, and I see her commanding a large share of the volume again tonight in a Storm offense that dropped 93 points on the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday.

That should put her in range for the Over in this home matchup against the Chicago Sky, and Ogwumike has played some of her best basketball at Climate Pledge Arena this year. She’s gone past this 17.5 line in four of her last six outings at home, and I’m banking on another strong scoring effort here.
