After suffering a blowout loss to the defending champion New York Liberty in the opener, the Las Vegas Aces got back on track with a dominant win over the Connecticut Sun. With two road games under their belts, the Aces head back to the desert for their home-opener and one of the most raucous crowds in the W.
The Washington Mystics went 14-26 last season, but the team has surprisingly kicked off the 2025 campaign with two wins across its first three games. Can Washington hang tough on the road, or will Las Vegas’ home-court advantage prove to be too much?

My Mystics vs Aces best bet: Aces -14.5 (-110 via bet365)
As mentioned above, the Las Vegas Aces have been great against the Washington Mystics in recent matchups straight up, but Washington has kept it close enough to cover the spread in four of the last five and seven of the last 10. Last season, the Mystics tied for the best ATS record in the W at 25-14-1, while the Aces went 19-20-1. Despite the poor percentage covering the spread last season, this is a game in which Las Vegas should dominate.
The Mystics won their first game of the season with an upset victory over the Atlanta Dream, and they followed that up with a victory over the Connecticut Sun. The Dream are 1-2, while the Sun are 0-2 with a -15 point differential. Washington lost its last game out to hand the Golden State Valkyries their first franchise win.
The Dream have played competitively across their first three games, but the rebuilding Sun have looked completely outmatched through their first two. The Valkyries are expected to struggle in their inaugural season as an expansion franchise, so Washington’s first three games should be taken with a grain of salt.
I’ll also take Las Vegas’ opening loss to the New York Liberty with that same grain of salt, as the defending champs were fired up at home as they celebrated their 2024 championship. The Mystics look like they’re headed in the right direction, but this is a team starting two rookies facing off against the reigning MVP and a cast of All-Star teammates.
Last season, the Aces became the first team in WNBA history to sell out all of their home games, and I expect the home crowd to be fired up and for the team to feed off of that energy in the 2025 home opener. This is a big spread, but the Aces should handle their business against a Mystics team that’s overachieved and now has to travel cross-country to face a title contender.
Washington has no answer for A’ja Wilson, and she’ll lead her team to a dominant victory at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

A'ja Wilson finished with 31 points against the Liberty in her first game of the season and kept it rolling with 22 in her last game out. Wilson averaged 26.9 points per game last season and became the first ever WNBA player to score 1,000 points in a single season. Wilson scored at least 26 points in 25 of 38 appearances last season, including 13 of 19 at home.
The Mystics sport the fifth-worst defensive rating this season, and the team has allowed the seventh-most paint points and second-most second-chance points. I expect a dominant scoring performance from Wilson in her 2025 home debut.
Brittney Sykes shockingly ranks fourth in scoring this season with a whopping 26.3 points per game. In her first three appearances of the season, she’s scored 22, 27 and 30 points. Those monster scoring performances have come against bottom-tier teams, and I expect Sykes to struggle against a tougher defense on the road.
Sykes reached the 23-point mark once last season and just 13 times across her last three seasons combined. She could be headed for a career year in the scoring department, but she’s not going to score at least 23 against Las Vegas tonight.
